Le Charme Sukhothai Historical Park Resort

We stayed here as part of a group tour. The setting of the accommodation was lovely with ponds and gardens. Our room was quite basic both the room itself and the bathroom. Both require updating. When we went to eat dinner all the windows and doors were open and the A/C not in use. It was a very hot evening and was sweltering in there. We asked them to turn the a/c on and close the windows - which made it much better an environment to eat in. The food was average for dinner and average at breakfast.

This hotel is located some distance from the main sights of Sukhothai. It a 20-30 minute walk to the historical park, and not all that close to restaurants either. Fortunately, the hotel has its own restaurant or the reception can call you a tuk tuk to take you anywhere close for 60 baht. We stayed here two nights, and the hotel grounds were the main attraction. There are numerous ponds filled with flowering water lilies, and a nice pool area with a mixture of lounge chairs, regular chairs, umbrellas and a few tables. There was a large jacuzzi attached to the pool, but it didn’t have much water in it or the jets turned on so we weren't sure if it was operational. At check-in, you only get one oversized key per room, and it has to be inserted into a slot by the door for electricity. That means when you are away from your room, your air conditioning is off and you are unable to leave devices plugged in to be charged. The room had comfortable beds, plenty of pillows and a large walk-in shower. The hot water in the shower was provided from a small electric heater mounted on the wall, and it had instructions printed on it. We had really hot water, and I think it helped that we didn’t turn on the water pressure completely. Breakfast in the hotel restaurant was decent, but i would have liked to see more fresh fruit such as apples, bananas or oranges.

While the lakeside restaurant terrace is lovely and the rooms have a charming atmosphere, our stay was mixed. The rooms and bathrooms were unfortunately not clean, and the furniture and facilities feel quite outdated and in need of renovation. The location by the lake, though beautiful, comes with many mosquitoes in the evening. The breakfast was a highlight—delicious and plentiful. Our main issue is that the hotel is advertised as 4-star, but the overall condition and cleanliness feel closer to a 3-star standard, which the photos seem to confirm.

We enjoyed staying at Le Charme. A particular highlight was the beautiful grounds including ponds with water lillies, a lake etc and it all looked very special when lit up at night. It was a relaxing setting and we enjoyed being surrounded by nature. The hotel is only a short tuk tuk ride from the historical park (they also offer free bike hire, though we found the bikes were not in good condition). Dinner overlooking the lake was excellent, and breakfast was pretty good though I would have liked to have had pastries available and also a non-dairy milk (oat or almond) and ideally fresh juice rather than made from cordial. My biggest dislike was that every day during our three night stay there were lots of noisy children messing about in the pool, which spoilt what would have otherwise been a tranquil environment. Also my room smelt musty and wasn’t quite as clean as expected (bed was comfortable though and I liked the pillows).

Great location, close to old city and historical park. Bikes available on property for guests. Clean and comfortable. Staff was wonderful.

Read the review shown at Le Charme website. It is accurate. I was so impressed by the landscaping and architecture of the property that I ended taking more pictures of the resort than I took at the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The only thing I missed was having a big coushie armchair to relax in.

lovely resort around gardens and ponds very close to the historical centre of Sukhothai. I had injured my knee, and the staff kindly upgraded me and put me closer to the entry. staff excellent.

The resort has been well planned with villas set amongst trees and water gardens. There is a large dinning room used for breakfast and restraunt overlooking a large pond where lunch and dinner is served. The swimming pool and bar is surrounded by trees. The villa was spacious with a balcony and not overlooked. Breakfast was adequate and the meals from the restaurant were nice and were reasonably priced. The massage service is to be recommended. The resort provides free use of its bicycles which you should avoid as they are poorly maintained. There is a bicycle hire shop a 5 minute walk from the resort which I recommend as they provide a free recovery service should you get a puncture. Sukhothai is safe to cycle around. If you are looking for a place to eat outside of the resort, i recommend the Na Khothai restaurant. The only let down for the resort were the front of house staff who lacked customer service skills and were not engaging.

Comfortable bed and quiet area. Transportation you can ask front desk. It is not easy to get from places. It is a beautiful resort. Friendly staffs. Will stay again if I visit again.
