Good value, clean room. Decent staff too.

Poor breakfast. Low quality ingredients. Chefs weren't at fault. It was well cooked, but poor quality. Sausages with low meat content, eggs with very pale yolks, all signs of a low budget approach to food

My room was pleasant

I stayed 7 nights for business and my room was not serviced once and unless I missed something it stated a bar and restaurant but you had to prepay for meals which were a buffet and the choice was not great, there was no actual menu to pick from, the hotel caters for coaching holidays than people on business

Great location, very clean

It says dog friendly but it isn’t really. Dog had to be left in room during meal times and were told usually you can take them in bar for drinks but food not available in that area. They had a photo shoot on in bar area during our stay and no provision for dog owners to access any other area with their dog than outside. For such a large hotel I would have thought to make a small room available for guests with pets to eat and drink together would be doable.

Many reviews mention the restaurant and how wonderful the food is. The restaurant is never open and food is served in a canteen kind of setting. There is little choice and the food is badly cooked. There is no bar during the day, it doesn't open until 5 and is likely to be a doorway in the canteen style eatery with a very restricted choice of drinks. There is also no food service at lunchtime and nowhere close enough to purchase any food if you do not have your own transport. All in all everything I had read about the hotel, other than one thing, was untrue. The thing that was true is the staff themselves are wonderful and very welcoming. It is a pity that we won't see any of them again because there is no way we would return to this, or very probably, any of the Britannia chain of hotels.
