Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge

Location in the park is good and the rooms, whilst basic, were clean and comfortable.

Food is not good (unless you prefer quantity over quality). It seems safari lodge food has not changed or improved in 25 years. Breakfast was OK however. Service on the verandah in the evenings was non-existent. If you wanted a drink you needed to go to the bar and ask for it. Playing “Jambo Bwana” at dinner every night? Come on, surely you can do something more authentic. It felt very 1990s tacky and we did our best to have dinner early so we could avoid it. We weren’t the only ones.

The breakfast was awesome and had a variety to choose from. It was also flexible for one to request for what was not in the main breakfast as long as it could have been availed. Location is better considering its in the wild, however the road to the first gate from Emali is so bad. The Kimana gate one is better

Excellent location in the park. The food was very good and selection was excellent.

It seemed that most people there were on a group tour. The hotel offers a number of experiences but they don’t have a dedicated travel desk and the staff at reception weren’t that helping at booking tours.
