Carrig Country House

The hotel location is exceptional. It is set on the shore of a totally unspoilt lake and mountain background. Once in the beautifully tended gardens you can't see any other properties from the hotel. The rooms are comfortable with interesting old furniture and items befitting a country house. The patron Frank and his staff are very attentive but not pushy. The breakfasts are outstanding. We stayed 2 nights and ate in the restaurant the second evening. It was a table d'hote menu and the food really could not be faulted. It was excellent value and the best meal we had in Ireland. Our view is that you'd have to go a long way to find a better place for a break. it is well placed for touring the Ring of Kerry, the Dingle peninsula and even County Cork. There is also a links golf course a few miles away.

Apart from everything being amazing: Frank and Mary, the owners, and Shvonne they were so nice to us that we felt home. I mean, if you visit Ireland, you have to see that place, meet that people!

Stayed at Carrif in July 2013. Grounds are beautiful, room was very pretty, quiet and the staff is exceptional. Dinner was outstanding. Over all very nice!
