"Lovely Little Guest House"

10.0

It was easier to find than I thought it would be based on other reviews I had read and it really was just around the corner from the Winter Palace. We were greeted by Tatiana who was lovely, she couldn't do enough for us, very helpful and great spoken English. The rooms are basic but have what you need. Breakfast was nice and Juliana even got up early for us to make sure we had toast and tea before our early flight back to Moscow. Please stay at this place it is perfect for a short stay in St Petersburg.

"Winter Palace about 200 yards across the road."

8.0

Quiet.Very friendly.3 ladies run it..they take it in turns doing 24 hours shifts..Svetlana,Juliana and Tatiana..Svetlana has no english but the other younger 2 have no probs. had no problems at all with the whole visit. Vast city but easily walkable around the central area of Winter Palace.couple of tips..if you intend visiting Winter Palace, buy your tickets in advance. If poss, dont wear a top coat or carry a back pack or any bag larger than the average size of a ladies handbag. In so doing you can by pass the queue for the ticket office and the queue for the cloakroom. All you will have to do is go through the airport style security arch. Then you are in to the exhibition which is worth it if you like your old masters paintings. Its what the Hermitage is renowned for within the WP.There are buses from Pulkovo airport into St P...but if you use a taxi, then the fare is 1200 roubles or very near to.Anything in excess of 1200 and you are being ripped off.Take it from one who knows and should have known better. The entrance to 3 Nevsky is a gate which leads through an enclosed passage to a courtyard.Door No 10.Totally uninspiring but a pleasant contrast once you are in.For those who want a place to have a drink without the expectation of eating if you dont want....out the gate ,turn left, round the corner, straight ahead and you will see the green canopy of the Irish themed pub..screens for football. The girls will arrange a taxi for you back to Pulkovo , 1200 roubles. OK? May 2014.

"Nevsky 3 very central and clean : )"

8.0

I just got off a Scenic Tour luxury ship and then I was faced with a courtyard full of cats and a sad looking stairway. A nice young man took my heavy luggage up that one flight of stairs to the Apartment No.10. You have to buzz the intercom first and they buzz you in. Such a pleasant surprise when the apartment door opened and a lovely greeting from Yuliana. She speaks much better English than Svetlana. She cooks the breakfast of eggs and sausage. A Continental breakfast too. From the gates of the courtyard, you can see the Hermitage. Bus stop is right in front. It is so central, you can walk anywhere: ) The Metro is very easy as it is in Russian and English. Only costs R$30 like AUD$1 to go anywhere from 1 stop to 10 stops! Bus costs R$25. There is a Currency Exchange for Aussie$$$ on Nevsky prospect with a Chocolate Santa Museum out front. Banks DO NOT exchange Aussie$. Only US$ or Euros. Can get grocery from big shopping centres. If you get lost, just ask young Russians. They speak English and are helpful. Loved St.Petersburg. The Hermitage is amazing but go later in the afternoon so it's not so crowded with Tour Groups. CostsR$400 for single entry and R$300 for Treasure Room. Place is so clean and well maintained. Felt very safe as I am travelling alone. For opera or ballet, buy tickets there and not online. Much cheaper. I was lucky to buy a spare ticket for 1/2 price around R$1,000 for opera at Mikhael Theatre. Mariinsky Theatre is beautiful. Just walk!

"Hotel Stay for 4 nights."

4.0

Very helpful lady but had difficuty communicating since she did not speak english and I do not speak russian. Excellent location, very clean. There was no air conditioning, but a fan was provided, which was not needed. I think there were 5 TV channels, all in russian, so was without world news for 4 days. The above is only my personal experiencese.

"superb location for Saint Petersburg"

10.0

Great location right by Hermitage Museum and winter palace, on Nevsky Prospect, the city's best shopping street. The room was small but very clean, comfortable and quiet. The hotel staff spoke enough English to assist me in making tour bookings and taxis. They made a very nice breakfast every morning at whatever time you wished to eat. I enjoyed my stay here very much and will definitely use them again when in Saint Petersburg!! One note, if you are going to arrive on off hours you should call ahead to get the key pad code to open the outer security gate in order to get into the court yard, otherwise you will be locked out standing on the sidewalk!

"Excellent place!"

10.0

This place is basically like a little B&B in the middle of downtown St. Petersburg in an apartment building. It's a bit hard to find if you don't know what you're looking for (it's in a courtyard off the street), but it so amazing. Great room, very nice staff, location that can't be beat! It was a highlight of our stay. We could walk to the Hermitage, or catch any number of buses right outside the door. I really can't say enough nice things about this place -- I feel fortunate to have found it.

"Best Value in St. Pete"

10.0

You are right in the heart of the action, here. Nevsky Pr. is the main shopping/hanging out artery in St. Pete. We walked to many of the "not to be missed" attractions (St. Isaac's, Cathedral Church of Our Savior on Spilled Blood (the one with the colorful domes), canal boat rides, the Hermitage, The Russian Museum, The Cathedral of our Lady of Kazan,The Idiot Restaurant, the Singer building, etc. If we got tired, just hoped a bus (you don't need exact change). There are 4 rooms, all different sizes. We had the smallest. Ask for an upgrade (if it's not White Night season) and maybe they can upgrade you. If you have heavy luggage and are not fit, avoid this place because you have to get the suitcases up the staircase yourself. Wasn't that hard for us but something to think about. Bath is spotless (with modern fixtures) as is the whole place. They have a 40 gal. hot water heater in the kitchen so you shouldn't run out. The hotel manager (also the only person there, other than the house keeper that comes in for a few hours in the morning) will make you a nice breakfast of eggs and sausage or two types of cold cereal, toast, jam/butter, etc. whenever you want it. She will let you use her computer/printer for Hermitage Tix - boarding passes, but it's very old and slow. If you don't mind a place without a door-man and don't want to spend three to four hundred dollars (or more) on a room, I don't think you can beat this place for location/price.

I highly recommend this hotel. It is on Nevsky Prospect (cafes, restaurants, etc..) and is very close to the Hermitage and the waterfront. The hotel is very new and the service was awesome.
