Vogafjós Guesthouse

One of our favorite stays in all 16 days of Iceland. The cottage was easy to find and just off the main road around the lake. Check in was at the main farm house, gorgeous inside. We even stayed at the hotel to eat and watching cows being milked through big windows. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious. The room was a great size too. Easy parking outside rooms.

Nice breakfast, good location for seeing local sights. Would go elsewhere for dinner.

I liked the smell of cow manure.

Room was clean and wi-fi was good, though using any hot water meant that the room would smell like sulfur for the next several hours. Starting breakfast at 8:00 is much too late for travelers who want to get to the more popular sites before crowds arrive. But breakfast was good in general.

What a wonderful experience. Check in was smooth and easy. We were upgraded to one of the triple rooms which was a clean and spacious triple room with logs on the walls and ceiling. We ate at the hotel’s farm-to-table restaurant and had the Icelandic lamb shank (from the farm) and Atlantic char - both delicious. In the morning, we visited the sheep and cows in the barn as they were eating and watched the farm workers - yes, this is a working farm! The buffet breakfast included geysir bread, a variety of cheeses and sliced meats, yogurt, fruits (including grapes, kiwi, oranges) - all delicious. The hotel staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, and happy to tell you about life in this beautiful and peaceful area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!!

Excellent hotel. Good clean rooms. Check out the restaurant for lunch or dinner. Excellent food - we sincerely recommend the slow-cooked lamb shanks. Best we’ve had so far in Iceland!

Nice place and gives a nice secluded feeling. Breakfast was great and was accompanied by a viewing of the cows being milked. Rooms were however on the smaller side.

Watching the cow milking was fun. The breakfast was outstanding. The staff worked so hard to keep everything filled and the variety and quality was superb. The rooms were small but clean and quiet. Enjoyed everything about the hotel.
