Hyatt Place Madison/Downtown

Terrific hotel. It looks quite new. Great location right in the center of town a couple of blocks from the capitol. The room was of great size, absolutely clean, with functional amenities. Nice front desk staff. Good breakfast. Convenient parking.

Excellent stay and perfect location. Everyone who worked there was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again and enjoyed my stay there.

This is a well located hotel very close to the Capitol Square and UW campus. Parking is easy in a connected ramp. Overnight parking in the ramp is $20 and I think by purchasing my room with parking included it ended up costing me more for parking than if I had purchased it once at the hotel. The staff are very friendly and competent. The breakfast was hit and miss for me. The first morning the hot food was scrambled eggs (expected) but also biscuits and sausage gravy. Definitely not everyone’s taste and it was not very popular from what I could see. The second morning was eggs and pork sausage. The sausages were clearly much more popular than the gravy option the day before. The pool looked nice but I never saw anyone using it. My only complaint is the lighting. This is one of those hotels with the terrible low power lights. The hallways are really really dark due to the pathetic low energy lights. I’m a man but if I were a single woman I would be concerned walking down one of those hallways alone. They are that dark. In the rooms it’s not much better. All “efficient” lighting that produces little light. I was trying to work in the room and it’s almost impossible. All in all a good option in Madison.
