"Terrible, we had to come home to have a holiday"

When it was time to leave

It had weevils through the cupboards in the kitchen. The property wasn’t very clean. People need to close doors and look behind. There is so much dust and dirt on the scooting boards. You don’t want to see this when you come to a hotel the bed head spring sticking out of it. This was the food room we had moved to.

"The Ashley Hotel good and bad."

The Ashley Hotel was a mix of old and new, parts of it needs some updating eg the door to your room was a little average. The bathroom was a good size, heated towel rail, climb in bath/shower unit. The bedroom was spacious and clean. Did not realise that the train line ran past the hotel but it was reasonably quiet. The check in was easy and the reception friendly and helpful.

The restaurant was a disappointment as other guests including us had to wait approximately 40 minutes before receiving their order due to groups being given preference, irrespective of us getting there before them. My meal arrived first and my husband was left having to wait. I returned my meal requesting it be replaced so I could eat with my husband. They brought it back and it had only been reheated in the microwave with only half a bowl of soup that I had ordered and the garlic bread stuck to the napkin. We were not very pleased. This put a damper on our stay.

Nice evening meal. Staff were good. Good shower and bed.

The TV setup, the TV failing constantly, Location too far away. No shuttle service to town.

+ gute Lage (fußläufig Strand und Restaurants) + freundliches Personal + gutes Frühstücksbuffet (allerdings auch 30 NZ$)

- Zimmer etwas abgewohnt (ausgetretener Teppich) - etwas hellhörig
