Location.Ideal for trams and buses to airport. Member of staff was friendly and helpful.

Depressing building. Exterior is unkempt. I was tempted to walk away on arrival. Inside old. In need of upgrade.

Place is run down, Rooms are very basic.

Es gibt tatchlich etwas positives über diese Unterkunft zu berichten (die ich ansonsten nur für hartgesottene Backpacker und für max. 1 Nacht empfehlen kann): die Lage direkt am Haymarket ist ganz gut, die Edinburgher Altstadt ist fußläufig in ca. 20 Minuten erreichbar - und das Hotelpersonal (sofern jemand anwesend ist, was nur zu ganz bestimmten Zeiten der Fall ist) ist wirklich bemüht und freundlich - kann aber die mindere Qualität des Hotels nur bedingt ausgleichen

Die Zimmer sind ein absoluter Mess - Warmwasser ist so gut wie nie verfügbar, das WC ist für einen normal gebauten Menschen eine echte Herausforderung (siehe Foto), die WC-Brille ist so locker, dass man Mühe hat, sitzen zu bleiben und der WC-Bereich so klein, dass man nicht nomal sitzen kann. Klimaanlage ist nicht vorhanden, es lässt sich nur ein Fenster einen Spalt weit öffnen, die Verdunkelungsrollos lassen sich nur teilweise hinaufrollen, das Zimmer ist dampfig und wirkt irgendwie schmuddelig. Das "Schlafsofa" im Familienzimmer ist derart durchgelegen, dass man beinahe lieber auf dem Boden nächtigt

Situated at a prime location, The Guards Hotel has all the facilities you need to. A Tesco store just opposite the hotel. Bus / Tram stand 2 minutes away. Walking distance (30 minutes) from Edinburgh castle, The Royal Mile , Dunes Village and other attractions. Just loved Edinburgh. I was allotted a room at ground floor with large windows just overlooking the street. You can sit there and just gaze at the beautiful people, buses, trams passing by. Special Thanks to KHALED who was so polite & helpful gentleman. He even provided me with an extension coil on the first day when my universal charger was not working and I was not able to charge my mobile. If God permits, I would like to visit Edinburgh and The Guards Hotel again & again, if they allot me that roadside room. You also have all informative leaflets at the front desk with some beautiful books. I stayed there with my wife & son. Thanks a lot to the Guards Hotel for making my trip a memorable & enjoyable one.

Friendly staff, very central location. Got what you paid for, was basic but was cheap

Room was small but for all the length of time was in it, was warm and comfortable
