Gilpin Hotel & Lake House

The staff were excellent m: polite, professional and friendly. The room was clean, large and comfortable. The dining rooms were clean and inviting. The breakfasts were excellent.

The eventmeals in both restaurants were not to my taste. The choice of meals on the menu was unappealing. I did not mind the small portions but the food was uninviting. In the Asian Restaurant I ordered egg fried rice and to my surprise I was presented with a poached egg on a bed of rice. I was expecting small pieces of scrambled egg mixed either rice. The rice was inedible. The food in the Source Restaurant was unappetising. On the positive side the dining rooms were clean and the Asian Restaurant was lively. I feel sure the chefs are competent cooks but the dishes could be more appetising.

Everything was hugely expensive. They even try and add an extra 7% accommodation fee when we spent nearly £600 on a room!
