Bluefin Bay on Lake Superior

This was on a bucket list of places to stay and it was beautiful. Our room was a master suite w/a hot tub in the room overlooking the lake as well as a fireplace in the room. The only complaint was that the next morning around 9:30 as I was making coffee a maintenance person was letting themselves into our room stating that he was told we had checked out. I’m thankful it wasn’t any more awkward.

We were very unhappy with our accommodations at Blue Fin Bay. We had heard so many people rave about it. While we did get the least expensive room, we had no idea it would be so substandard. It was hard to get into the building. It was unbearably hot as we entered the building. Our room was 83 degrees and it was very difficult to adjust the temperature. We opened our window but the noise and the lights from highway made sleep hard to come by. While the bathroom was large and modern, the bedroom itself was tiny, dingy, and dated. We could not wait to leave and we won’t be back.

Loved that we could stay one night and hope that we come back for more!

Very quiet and just a great place to stay , even had our own wood burning fireplace , dining was the very best , no need to go else were .

Checked in at 3pm (which time was stated for checkin on reservation). Desk clerk told us she would call us when room was available. Never received a call. When we did check in at 6:30, clerk said they didn’t call because room was ready at 4. Better communication is needed.

Overall is pretty good. The only thing is the tree in front of our property blocked the view. Also, the ladder inside to the loft feels not safe for us, especially for elders and toddlers.

Loved the property and Bluefin Grille. Would definitely stay here again.

Food was just ok

The overall property is very nice. I've eyed it for years, great "curb appeal", and was glad to finally stay. Unfortunately my choice of rooms was not good (my fault), and the AC didn't work, and it was needed. They were kind and worked with us, and got us a fan which, along with keeping windows open, helped a lot. But truthfully, I didn't want my windows open all the time, being on the parking lot, plus this meant our blinds had to be open all the time, not ideal. Ellen was very kind and tried to help the situation. I do want to say we loved the location being on the bike trail, and having the smores packets available with the fire pit they provided was a great touch. Also enjoyed the hot tub, hubby enjoyed sauna. It is a beautiful place to stay.
