St John Inn

A fun, quirky place to stay. Perfect for our St John experience. It's not a fancy, modern hotel experience, so if you are looking for that go elsewhere. The rooms are clean and comfy, but unconventional. We really liked being able to use the library of books and maps and beach gear (chairs, coolers, towels, snorkel equip) for our play time, and love that they have "leftover lotion and bug spray" available for guest use. Why throw away a perfectly good, mostly full bottle of product when another guest leaves it because they don't want to pack it on the plane? Staff was very friendly and helpful and great to chat with. We also enjoyed being able to interact with other guests around breakfast and rum punch. The neighborhood is working class, but safe. Easy walking to Cruz Bay shopping and dining. Only complaint would be that the bed was not very comfortable, but overall it was a nice place and a great experience. Would go back in a heartbeat!

All of the employees/owners are great and very flexible. We went to multiple hotels throughout our trip and this was the most flexible and communicative hotel we stayed at! Room is spacious and has a couch/tv area. It is also located close to town - as long as you are comfortable walking 1/2 a mile, it’s very easy to get a taxi. It is pricer in general but affordable for St John!

Pros: Staff was super nice. We showed up early and were greeted by Michael. Our room wasn't ready, but he gave us ideas of things to do, with directions. They have a ton of supplies you can borrow to take to the beach, including coolers, towels, and snorkeling gear. They also have complimentary sunscreen, bug spray, and other sundries. Everyone, staff and guests, were nice. Definitely a place you won't know a stranger. Room was huge.The car ferry is just around the corner, and the people ferry and businesses are less than a 10 minute walk away. Cons: Low water pressure, but not a shock. The layout of the property is interesting, and our room ended up being just off the office. Looks like there were 3 other rooms off to the other side. This means we could hear everything happening in the office, and I assume they would be able to hear us. The pool had to be drained while we were there, because of repairs. Not sure we would have used it, but it was a bummer that it wasn't an option. Everything else: The property is older. It's not a fancy hotel. It doesn't pretend to be anything it's not. We were there only one night, but I wish it was longer. Would recommend on the basis of the staff alone.

Love the staff and management - very welcoming! Adorable pool. Bright cheery colorful inn within walking distance to everything in Cruz Bay. Highly recommend.

Close to town Difficult for those with mobility issues. A lot of steps but Phillip & Jim were very helpful assisting with bags & getting us a cab at check out . Enjoyed complimentary rum punch & breakfast with other guests. Beautiful views.

First of all let me say that the owner is great. He was very helpful. However, there is a Dominican dance club across the street and it is EXTREMELY loud. Like a car with a booming system was parked in front of our room. Our floor in the room was literally shaking from the bass. I'm not one to care much about noise, but after a few hours it gets old. Plus there were beetle-looking bugs in the bathroom. It is within a short walk to restaurants, bars and shops though.
