La Breche

Wonderful breakfast buffet, with homemade compotes,excellent pastries and cheeses, and a good variety of meats, etc. The staff was very helpful and courteous.

The breakfast was wonderful and the help from the front desk upon checking in was great! However when checking out after we had our breakfast....the staff person insisted we would have to pay 5 E each for a take away coffee. 12 E for breakfast each and complaining about a takeaway coffee.....pretty cheap I’d say!

Cute hotel, good location, excellent restaurant! La Breche is a lovely old homely hotel in a quiet area 2mins walk from the train station & a short-ish scenic walk to the centre of Amboise. Staff are very friendly and helpful, the restaurant fab - had one of our best French meals here - and there’s a lovely small garden to wander around in, too. We really enjoyed our stay there and thoroughly recommend it as a place to stay in Amboise!

Staff works very hard to make sure you have everything you need. The courtyard is lovely and parking is secure. I am glad we were staying there while visiting the area

Pros: The hotel has a private, gated parking lot for their guests which was essential for us as we were driving. Breakfast buffet had a wide selection and is very tasty. Only 10 mins walking to center of town so you’re close but not in the hustle and bustle of everything making it quiet and relaxing. They have a lovely garden and outdoor patio to sit and have some wine or coffee. The room was clean, has comfy beds, an electronic kettle to make some tea or instant ramen in our case ;) Free wi-fi was a plus and the speed was adequate. Cons: Check in was quick and basic but not very informative (didn’t explain that we needed to make reservations for breakfast each day because we got a strange look when we tried to eat breakfast the day of check out although we did eat, no brief intro on what was around and about or how to get to center of town, or that our room was on the second floor and we had to lug our suitcases up small stairs two floors without any help; these little touches would have been appreciated). We met two receptionist and the madam was very friendly and kind but the young man could improve on his customer service, if I’m being picky. It was the little things really, like the look given when we tried to have breakfast or having to ask twice to make reservations for dinner at a nearby restaurant because the restaurant wasn’t open yet for dinner but he didn’t offer to call again when the restaurant was open, just a flat “the restaurant isn’t open yet”.

Isobel and her staff were so welcoming & personable that you felt immediately at home and pampered at the same time. They truly cared that your entire Loire Valley Experience was memorable. Hotel USA 5 min walk from the train and a 15 min walk from the Centre Ville across the river. Terrific value including the 12 € breakfast. Amazing French culinary experience at dinner. Definitely indulge yourself! Room is comfortable. Bathroom modern. Help provided with luggage up and down the stairs if desired. A memorable experience is every way!

I was happy to discover they have an excellent restaurant and a great value

Following one of Rick Steves’ recommendations, we stayed at La Breche and were not disappointed. We liked the overall feel of staying at a refurbished old and historical building. The bedroom and bathroom were roomy with modern appointments. We enjoyed eating farm to table breakfast and dinner at the hotel. Staff was very friendly and made our stay a very pleasant and memorable one.

We stayed two nights and enjoyed it. The staff was great and very helpful. Early in the morning there was a lot of traffic noise.
