"Poor service"

2.0

I was booked in because there was no room at the Quality Hotel. I found the staff, at best, unhelpful. The decor is dated and is in dire need of a revamp. All in all not a good experience.

"Good"

OK Hotel. Have stayed in a lot worse in my time but this was very middle of the road. Al hotels in Norway are overpriced by UK standards but this was not to bad and value for the price paid. Had to change rooms when I first arrived and the staff had no problem with it. So overall not to bad.

"Not to be recommended"

4.0

Reception staff very unfriendly, unsmiling and unresponsive. They mostly just watch mainland China TV in reception area, very little English spoken. Breakfast uninspiring, no fruit at New Year weekend, coffee in a flask, not fresh. Downstairs sushi restaurant permanently empty (unsurprisingly, given the atmosphere). Room very overheated and couldn't turn off heating, which had badly-installed visible pipes, hot to touch. Room lacked kettle or any teamaking equipment. Décor very poor: some older ship-paintings, many newer examples of mass-produced popular Chinese art, garish and inappropriate. Bathroom adequate if shabby, but shower-arm would not stay in place. Altogether a dispiriting stay. Next time we will go elsewhere (Tonsberg itself a handsome town, well worth visiting).

"A very pleasant stay"

10.0

We booked this hotel through a internet page, becouse this was the only hotel in Tonsberg that seemed to have big family rooms. We was 5 people travelling togheter, and wanted to chare room. I can really recomend the family rooms at Maritim Hotel. I recommend room 209. It had a own living room with a big sofa and flat screen television, 4 separate bedrooms with single and double beds, and a newly renovated bathroom. A nice and friendly norwegian girl check us in, and provided us with maps over the city and gave us several proposals when it camed to what was worth seeing in this town. The hotel alsow have a conveyor belt for sushi and other asian food. We tried this restaurant one of the nights, and the chef did a good job. Fresh and tasteful salmon. In the restaurant there was only chinese employees, and some of them diden`t speak english, but we made ourselves understood. Breakfast was OK. Bread and cheese, jam, ham, kaviar, pate, youghurt, fruit and vegetalbles. Hot sausages, tomato beans, scrambled and boiled eggs. Coffee and tee, apple and orangejuice. The breakfast are usually a little better at other norwegian hotels, but then again this was the cheapest hotel in Tonsberg. The hotel is located perfectly in the middle of the town, in a quiet street. We stayed for 3 days, and this is enought to see this little costal town.
