Beautiful The restaurant down the hill on the beach is a must especially the swordfish

This place was ideal. Very nice staff and professional when an issue arose. The pool might be a tad deep for little kids but the grounds are nice and the guests were all friendly. You have 2 beaches in walking distance and grocery stores are a quick drive.

really good hotel. spotlessly clean, spacious comfortable room with well equipped kitchenette. sparkling clean swimming pool shared by just a few rooms. staff helpful and polite. excellent wifi. stayed an extra night as hotel was so nice. we had a car so drove into town centre. beach is within walking distance but would be a pretty long, uphill walk back to hotel. overall best hotel so far in our 2 month trip in Europe. very reasonably priced as well.

Stayed two nights and our stay was excellent. The room was very neat, clean and comfortable. We were on the ground floor fifteen feet from the pool, which we did not use but it was very inviting. The local supermarket was 10 minutes walk away and a short drive into the town centre. Close walk to the various beaches.

The apartments are fairly basic but comfortable, well equiped and spotlessly clean. The apartments are set in pretty, well tended gardens. They are well situated for the Porto do Mos and Canaviel beaches (though you need to be reasonably fit to walk to both, and be warned, clothing on Canaviel is optional) as well as Lagos town centre. There is a small but nice pool at the complex and each apartment has two sun loungers. Also there is an outdoor table and chairs for each apartment for al fresco dining if the fancy takes you. The owners live on-site and all the staff are friendly and helpful. There is a wide variety of good resaurants in Lagos and several are within easy walking distance; Antonio's on the Porto do Mos beach is nice. If you want to venture a bit further, O Marofado is a bit out of town on the far side but does excellent tapas.

Everything was great at Canavial. I arrived at 11pm and they waited for me even though reception closes at 7pm. Room was really big and super clean. Super powerful shower and room with direct access to the pool. It's a short walk from 2 really nice beaches, and Antonio restaurant which serves amazing seefood and vinho verde. It's not that close from the city centre, but that is precisely the reason why I booked it. Everything is cheaper around, really nice beaches not crowded, and really quite. I will definitely come back

I'm not sure if hotels.com did their homework on this one. Canavial was definitely not what I expected: it is not a hotel or a guest house, just a house divided into rooms for rent (including garage I think). Do mind the reception hours, if there is anything you need after 6pm, you're on your own. Very overpriced and overrated. The one thing that matched the reviews was that Joao, the owner/ son of the owner was nice.

The owner was very kind. He told us everything we need to know about the area, shops, beaches, restaurants etc. The location is good. Quiet but not far from the beach and town centre. The couple traveled with us has a baby and the owner kindly provided a very nice bed for the baby. Not every room has bath though. So if bath is a must for you, do specify in the special request so that the owner can arrange beforehand.

Canavial is an owner run development outside Lagos close to the Porto do Mos beach. The apartments are in two blocks on either side of a very quiet road. The apartments are quiet, very well looked after and comfortable without being luxurious. They are primarily intended for couples though it is possible to have a third bed put in them if you are taking a child. The grounds are private, really pretty and well tended. There is a small pleasant pool and each appartment has its own sunloungers so you can spend a lazy day there if you want to. Access to the beach is either down a steep set of stairs to Canavial beach (the far end of which is 'clothing optional') or a steep walk down to Porto do Mos which is popular and good facilities. The centre of Lagos is a pleasant but longish walk but there are several decent restaurants relatively close by if you don't fancy the town centre.

Very short walking distance to breathtaking cliffs overlooking the Ocean. Downhill walk (on road) to the beach. Lots of parking available. Cute kitchenettes. I would'nt reccomend staying in downtown Lagos as iti is way too touristy. Restaurants are a short drive away
