Hostal Gala

This is an old building but is well maintained. This is a pricey Hostal, but I think its worth the money. It is clean, the staff is nice, rooms are small as you can expect from a hostal, but the location is really great. It is two blocks away from la Gran Via, few blocks from Sol, Palacio Real, and many other city attractions. The neighborhood is safe and there are at least 3 metro stops within 2 blocks from the hostal, so it is really easy to get there. If you are arriving or leaving when metro is not opened, it costs 30 euros to get to/from the airport.

The staff here were some of the best we have experienced on our travels, very friendly and extremely helpful.

I stopped with a group of 9 friends in the middle of June and didn't hear one complaint from any of them. (Ones a right moaner too) Heard that if you were facing the street noise could be a problem but can't say I noticed anything. Beds made everyday and towels changed. The rooms were spacious and clean and in general the whole hostel was spotless. Staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. Shop that sells everything you need on the same street. Bars across the road which were perfect for us while waiting for everyone to get ready. Would recommend going to see Kev Gymage Lounge for a roof top bar and pool. Tried a local restaurant too! It's called McDonald's and does excellent burgers. Loads of bars and clubs and if I ever go back with a group I'll 100% be stopping here. Also the showers were crazy good!

Came here with the college for an overnight trip and we were very impressed with price, location and rooms. The location was right next to a metro stop so getting around the city was nice and easy and the rooms were beautifully simple with lovely little balconies to people watch.

Hostal Gala exceeded my expectations. I felt I got my money's worth and more. Thank you Hostal Gala. Here is my objective impression: Pros: Great location, close to transportation, restaurants, cafes, Gran Via, Sol Clean Shower is amazing, great pressure Towels are great (i saw a review about them being bad, that is not true) Good room size for European standards, quite surprised as usually rooms are way smaller 24h reception service Free breakfast snacks Good lighting Comfortable bed They attend to your needs and requests in a friendly and efficient manner (except for one instance, see Cons below): toilette was not flushing properly and they called a plumber right away and offered me to change me rooms if problem was not resolved in a timely fashion Cons Toilette was not working properly and I reported asap, at first the reception desk lady implied I may have done something, later after the plumber came they realized it was not me and profusely apologized---but I def did not like to be accused of something I did not do Since it is in the center of Madrid it can be noisy

Loud noises outside of hotel in early hours of mornings. Hotel and staff very nice and central location was excellent. Great value for the money.

Really friendly staff, great location, lovely atmospheric hotel. Staff really went out of their way to be supportive and helpful - always welcoming and friendly. A small lift so after a few stairs, easy to get luggage to rooms Great for families - came with dishwasher and washing machine, large fridge Small seating area to have meals - nowhere to lounge about and relax other than the beds - didn't bother us at all as we were out all the time, but may influence some.. A few tiny quibbles - Pretty hard to find - - glad we arrived during daylight - and once found - hard to figure if you are in the right place - where reception is ( it's on the second floor) - a few signs in the front hall would be really helpful our apartment had no plug or device for holding water in the sink so we couldn't wash up easily. there was a dishwasher, but no tablets provided and could not buy from reception. Reception suggested buying from supermarket - but could not find anywhere that would sell less than a bulky and expensive pack of 24 - similarly with washing powder for washing machine. would be great if hotel could provide a service so customers could buy in small quantities - or at least alert you so you know to pack your own Other than that all absolutely fabulous. Little restaurant out the front has great meals and super friendly service

Good Location, 2 of the front desk guys were really nice, another one was very rude when I talked him about a problem with the bathroom. They gave us free breakfast for that inconvenient. Good Hotel Overall.
