Hostal Gala

I spent two nights with my parents there(14/10 and 15/10) . We were checked in by a lovely Venezuelan girl who showed us the apartment, explain the map and some things about the city. The first night, we were in the 4th floor- Room 4D which has a really nice view to the Santo Domingo Square and others nice streets. The second night, my parents were in a really big apartment 4A, which has two rooms and everything nice. After travelling for more than 1 month, the rooms in this hostal are even better that in a 4 stars hotel where we were. Finally, I left my parents there and the Venezuelan girl (Lidi ??? ) help them to book a taxi for the next day to the airport and also helped me to get my boarding ready. Very noisy, cheap fourniture, the walls are not isolated. Bed is not comfortable at all.

Hotel is in the city center. the only thing is, AC is not working in our room. Receptionist was aware and did what they can do but it did not worked still.Hope the admin will take a look at it. its room 207.

Great location. Convenient 24hr front desk. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable and fresh. Great value for what you get. I would stay here again.

this might be a hostal in name, but by no way in nature. a very nice place. all the staff were etremely helpful and very friendly. they helped us with everything we asked for, they went out of their way to help. All areas were very clean, nothing eas out of place. you can't go wrong if you stay here.

Just returned from a 4 night stay at Hostal Gala with my daughter. Have to say I was a bit apprehensive to stay in a hostel as it always brings to mind dormitories and backpackers. How wrong I was. A bit hard to find as just a wooden front door with a tatty small flag above it. However once at reception the welcome was warm and friendly.The room we had was spotlessly clean, spacious with a great ensuite, and a small balcony overlooking the square. The beds were clean and comfy. The location is perfect as within walking distance of pretty much everything, Gran Via, Plaza del Mayor, Plaza del Sol, the Palace and Cathedral and the food market. Lots of bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity and even though there are hot & cold beverage vending machines in the hostel, there is a great cafe opposite. The reception is manned 24/7 but you get your own door keys so can come and go freely. The only downside is if your a light sleeper you may need ear plugs. The square outside attracts skateboarders until quite late, the hostel is above an Escape Room venue which obviously has some excitable moments, the internal walls are a bit thin and the floor in our room was very squeaky but then it is an old building. Overall great value for money for a great location, good size clean room with a comfy bed.

Nice hotel but it gets noisy at night because of the location. Its right in the middle of the city. Otherwise clean and comfortable.

The place is very accesible

Hostal Gala is located close to Old Madrid. We were able to walk to most of the major tourist attractions. The nearest metro stop is about a 5-7 minute walk. The bed and living area are comfortable and updated. The main cons were the outside noise-- it is located right above a tavern and we could hear noise from the outside as late as 2 am. The shower is also very small. Other than that, we loved the price and proximity to everything!
