Sunset Gardens Guesthouse

Room simply had not been cleaned. Long hair on the floor, bathroom and shower wall… revolting. No staff to talk to outside short hours (but some of us have work so…). Anyway, would not recommend...

The property controls the AC & maintained it ~75-77F degrees which was too warm. Shower hot water limited to less than 10 minutes. Roachee & ants in bathroom & kitchenette. Facility is not acceptable & on US mainland would be rated a 1-star accomodation facility. Must have vehicle or be prepared to take taxi to public transportation area ~1.5 miles from hotel. Staff was very pleasant.

We stayed at Sunset Gardens for 3 nights as a family trip in St Thomas. The moment we arrived on the property I was a little confused if we were even in the right place. The parking was so small. There is no lobby, only a tiny office. The lady who checked us in was so sweet and helpful. It was a shame that there wasn't anything she could do about the building which just made me feel uncomfortable. The railings near the steps towards laundry were rotting off. Our room for a family of 4 was so small. No elbow room at all. The TV was Dish and sometimes worked and sometimes did not. The bathroom was just as small. I'd have to twist awkwardly just to reach the toilet paper. There was no sink space. If I put anything down on the vanity it would fall off. But the shower was a real piece of work. It looked ok, but the water temperature was the confusing part. I would have it on a lukewarm or cool temperature, and without warning and without touching the faucet setting, the temperature of the water would heat up so much I'd get burned. Then , the backdoor to the balcony was so hard to close, I'd have to slam it just to close and lock it. One night when we were there at 5 in the morning, the power went out and all fans, AC shut off. Got very hot very fast. And to top it off, the other guests were so loud during all hours of the night, talking, blasting music, laughing. Just overall, I rate my stay 2 stars. The only positive was the people who worked check in were very nice.

This property is in terrible shape. Floors are cracked, bed is 20 years old, doors will not close or lock, leaky roof, bugs and paper thin walls. Office closes at their leisure and property is not supervised. There was a fight at the pool one night and a loud party the other night. Place need to be condemned and torn down.

The price was ok , but don’t have any thing close to it .

The view is incredible, the staff is friendly, and the pool is clean! What’s not to love?

Upon checking in Faye was very pleasant and extremely helpful. However the room needed some upgrades. The shower curtain was dirty. Although everything was clean, things could’ve been upgraded a little differently. It was as very difficult place to get cabs. The drivers weren’t always willing to come pick people up by this facility when traveling to red Hawk for the ferry and other sites with a distance. The iron was broke, there are no blackout curtains and dishes are old too.
