"Noisy, slightly unhospitable but certainly not unbearable"

7.0

Arrived early and was told our room was ready but had to pay £10 hr early check-in charge. Didn't bother, found a local pub to hang out in instead. Decided not to spend any money at the hotel during our stay after their request. Room was noisy as the hotel is situated right on the dual carriageway. Acoustic glass would be a good investment. Hotel is clean with nice staff and all the facilities.

Noise from road. Asked for early booking fee despite our room being ready

"Hotel lovely front of house staff could do with improvement!"

8.0

The hotel itself it perfectly good rooms nice & clean big bed etc Resturant & staff nice breakfast was all good.

Check in Early check in will cost you £30 per room We think on an £80 room this is steep so opted for very late check in between 00:30/01:00 by night staff I had made it very clear during both a phone call & follow up email of our late arrival. However I still recurved a phone call the day before check in asking if I wanted to make a dinner reservation. So clearly no notice had been taken of my previous conversation or email. On arrival we had to go searching for anyone to check us in. We found two guys tidying up after an event. Which is fair enough. But as these are also front of house staff we were shocked at their appearance & lack of English. They grunted at us rather than spoke! The following morning we were still in our room at 11:10 & received a very blunt phone call telling us we have overstayed!

Everything from our room to the bar to the restaurant 😜 and the restaurant staff, so so helpful !!

Stayed at Room 9 on ground floor level - room was absolutely amazing except for no internal blind or netting, meaning people parking cars or smoking outside hotel entrance, can look right into our beautiful room, simply closing the curtains whilst daylight outside, just doesn't seem right !! This is absolutely not a criticism, just being truthful & helpful to others.

"Fabulous hotel in a lovely historic village."

10.0

The standout for me was the staff. They were so friendly and lovely and couldn't have been more helpful. Breakfast menu gave a lot of choice without being overwhelming. Cooked breakfast tasty and fresh. The dinner menu was amazing. Excellent food cooked to perfection and well presented on the plate. The cheese board was a taste adventure and very generous. The room was exceptionally clean. The room staff looked after us well. The room was very comfortable with plenty wardrobe space. Lovely carpet and comfortable chairs. The overall vibe from the hotel was modern and welcoming. It appeared very fresh. I loved the subtle space theme in the dining room. Recognition of the fact that Fenwick was home to orrery maker John Fulton.

I'm struggling to find something I didn't like. Ok, this is something that the hotel can do very little about. The location. It is situated very close to the M77 motorway and as a result traffic noise is constantly there in the background. As far as I am aware the hotel owners have done their best to mitigate this by using triple glazing. I have to admit that after a while we didn't really notice the trafiic and our bedroom was closest to the motorway. Our sleep was not interrupted.
