Villa Mar Azul

very nice studio, wejust loved'it.

Villa Mar Azul was a great find. It was super cheap (we were there in the low-season), and a great place to stay. When we first arrived late at night, we were a bit concerned - it seemed to be in the middle of nowhere. But in the light of day the next morning, we found that we were a five minute walk to what is easily the nicest beach in Lagos. The beach is wide and sandy, with lots of space, and a decent small surf break for those so-inclined. Right on the beach are two restaurants - go to Campimar for snacks and coffee (ask for the snack menu, not the dinner menu), and go to O Antonio for dinner (order the Monkfish stew, and share it - it's huge). A 10 minute walk east on Estr. do Monte Carrapeto gets you to a great little grocery store where you can easily stock up on the essentials so you can take full advantage of the apartment kitchenette. In the low season (at least when we were there in March), we were the only guests in Villa Marazul, and the building was unstaffed. Reception was handled through another nearby hotel, who checked us in and shuttled us to the building, and also handled our requests through the week. While it seemed a bit odd, it all worked out fine in the end. The pool was not available to use at that time, although we could have used the pool at the other hotel if so inclined. Although you are a bit out of the way, it means you aren't in the middle of the tourist drama of Lagos. It's about a 30 minute walk to downtown Lagos.

I was surprised how immaculate and big the apartment was. Very comfortable beds. Our car broke down during our stay and the front desk was very helpful in communicating in Portuguese to the rental company. Overall it was a great place and affordable for the size of the apartment.

We have a really great time in Villla Mar Azul. 4 minutes by walk to the Praia do Porto de Mos. Amazing landscape! Really good and confortable spot.

Beautiful apartment. 5 min walking distance to the beach. You need a car because it's at about 3 km of downtown, but the place is quiet at night.. Free parking.
