Holiday Inn Express & Suites Laurel by IHG

The hotel options in Laurel are limited, this hotel is one of the nicer ones. The staff are friendly and the complimentary breakfast is nice. The air freshener in the room had a very strong perfume like order we had to turn it off. The trash bins around the elevator were overfilled. The room was clean enough but not spotless.

I wavered between a 4 and a 5, with the following factors as drawbacks: (1) higher hotel rates in Laurel mean less value per dollar paid; (2) common areas are poorly lit and seem outdated; and (3) the lobby is very small (unless the reasonably spacious breakfast area is open). The room was very good, with two comfortable queen beds, a lounge chair, and a clean and well-maintained bathroom. The staff did an excellent job keeping the breakfast area clean and well stocked with food.

The friendliness when we arrived and the staff sounded eager to please…..at first.

our room was not cleaned the first day. I wouldn’t have minded if we had been told when checking in. We were not told.That night, after a long, tiring day I called the desk,Aubrey, and asked for fresh towels. She said she would bring them up in 10-20 minutes. She never did. Also, I understand the Barn Door style door that switches between the closet and the bathroom probably saved the company thousands by cutting back to only one door, but it certainly cuts down on bathroom privacy by not closing tightly. Lastly, the walk-in shower has black mold around the edges of the shower pan.

The location of the Holiday Inn is very convenient to get to and drive around the city. The only issues were the a/c made a lot of noise when it was running. If you have a room on the 3nd floor you can hear all the noise coming from the above unit. Also had very low pressure for the shower.

Front desk staff and breakfast was excellent. Carpet in room seemed dirty.

The bed was comfortable. The floor in the entry and bathroom was sticky. So were the nightstands. Possibly too much soap in their cleaning water. Overall it wasn’t bad.

Easy access from highway

Hotel is kinda run down, duvet cover was stained, there was ash on the desk chair, footsteps and noise from room above us was so loud. Breakfast was decent, front desk staff at check-out were friendly
