The location was convenient for the beach. Nice bathroom with good shower.

This was very much a pub with rooms, not a boutique hotel. The decor was tired. They used polyester sheets very uncomfortable, especially in the hot summer months. Disappointed.

Friendly staff and a great breakfast. Really well situated in a quiet side street. Apart from the sea gulls’ morning chorus and morning bin collection it was a really quiet location. We stay in Brighton quite regularly- usually stay at the Premier Inn in the city centre as our preferred option, but The Southern Belle will now be our go-to accommodation as it is just a 20-30 minute walk to the Brighton Dome, Theatre Royal etc. I wasn’t sure what to expect as it is basically a pub, the room was clean and tidy with a lovely en-suite and all the usual items you would expect in a decent hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the whole place has a nice vibe about it. Didn’t have drink in the bar during this stay - well save that for next time 😊

The chef didn’t turn up to cook breakfast in the morning but the young man in charge was very apologetic and offered various options, including a refund for breakfast while he organised a last-minute replacement. We weren’t on a tight schedule so went for an early morning walk. By the time we got back the chef had arrived and the cooked breakfast was probably one of the best I have had - all cooked to order, served hot and very good quality sausage, bacon and black pudding.
