Fortingall

A welcoming and comfortable country hotel. We enjoyed an excellent dinner, breakfast was also good. Beautiful surroundings in a quiet location, lovely walks nearby.

It is a fascinating old building, with some very pleasant updates, mainly in the bathroom. Wifi is slow and erratic, but sometimes useable, and the breakfast is better than you might expect, but pass up the dinner which is overpriced and small and not very good.. Most of the staff was very sweet and wanted to be helpful, which helped make up for their inexperience and weak English skills. The setting is stellar. The owner acted at times like she'd like to engage us in conversation, but couldn't really sustain for more than a couple sentences...maybe she's secretly shy, or maybe she is a little burnt out with hospitality. She's done a great job overall with the place.

A wonderfull place with much character, close to all, yet nicely out of the way and so quiet. Beautifull bedrooms. Loved it !

Situated not far from the eastern end of Loch Tay in a peaceful, out-of-the-way setting Fortingall is a solid old building. The interior was nicely decorated and full of character. Our dog-friendly room and spacious bathroom were clean and comfortable. We ate in the Ewe bar which was cosy and the whole brief experience was friendly and enjoyable.

The hotel is in a lovely part of Perthshire and the arrival of snow mid March only added to the beauty of the scenery. The hotel staff were excellent and we enjoyed the food in the bar and the traditional music to follow. A great getaway from the city which is exactly what we needed though we did go to the cinema in Aberfeldy as we think it is worth supporting this brilliant community venue. Glen Lyon and the mountains are spectacular but we would need more time and better weather to explore more. We would definitely recommend the hotel.
