Porth Lodge Hotel

Once again excellent stay at porth Lodge many thanks to Carol and dave for a lovely break excellent food good service provided will be back fantastic location for all parts of Cornwall definitely recommend they are very acomodating and helpful and friendly which goes along way see you soon 😊xxx

Very disappointing from the start- we were met with a miserable faced lady- Carol on arrival, who always made us feel we were a burden. There is a great big "rated 8.8/10 from hotels.com guests" sign at the desk- but we would not rate this more than 3.3! Not even one smile throughout our 3 days there- despite, there being several problems with the rooms we had: 1 apt & 1 twin. In the apt- the shower outflow was blocked which we reported- never got fixed; in the twin- no functioning shower- we were told it had been fixed 2 weeks earlier-clearly not- then had to stay in this room, but go across the hall to shower in another room. Equally bad, was the fact that there was no evening hot water to shower with- only to be met with "we dont normally have people showering in the evening"- I presume no surfers, beach goers ever stayed there then. The only saving grace was that the quality of the food was good.

Had a bowl and a bite, was a good few games and staff were helpful and polite with social distancing in place. Love the feel of the cosy bar and the locals drinking were welcoming and at the end of the night felt very welcome :) pool table is kept neat and ready for anyone. Also has a television to keep people entertained along with music. This place offers all the entertainment.

Initially came for the bowling, good activity for the evening. The actually bowling alley and bowling balls is pretty outdated if I'm being honest, the balls are all chipped and barely circular anymore. Its actually quite expensive also, around £7 a game per person I think if I remember correctly, cant remember exactly. However the people there were lovely, service was great and we even stayed afterwards in the bar area for an hour or two and played some pool and cards. Everyone in the bar was lovely and friendly, the locals and the staff! Didn't stay at the hotel or eat there so cant comment.

Really nice hotel with a traditional feel. Great friendly service. Super breakfast, lots of choices.

Booked an apartment which was quite affordable compared to the hotels nearby. Clean, spacious, comfortable and very close to the Porth Beach ( which is ideal if you're not looking to surf - no equipment rentals and no surf done there, as told by the lifeguards).

We stayed for 3 nights at porth lodge, arriving 19th September. Check in was quick and easy. All staff were helpful, very welcoming and friendly. Our apartment was clean and the bedding smelt lovely and fresh. Breakfast was fabulous and the portions were plentiful. We ate at the restaurant two nights out of our 3, staff were lovely, the food was brilliant and very reasonably priced. Home cooked Sunday lunch was great. A few minutes from the beach, made it an ideal location. Dog friendly was a massive bonus for us. Would recommend and will definitely return.

We spent 6 wonderful nights at Porth Lodge last week. We can't praise Carol, Dave and their team enough. We stayed in apartment 2, which was spotlessly clean and well equipped, with modern decor. The bed was so comfortable and bedding was clean and smelled beautifully fresh. Breakfast not only offered plenty of choice with generous portions, but was also made with excellent quality products, something I've found is not always the case when hotels try to reduce their costs with inferior, cheap sausages, bacon etc. After eating dinner in the small hotel restaurant on our 2nd night we decided to eat there every evening. Dave is an excellent chef and we both agreed the sirloin steak was possibly the best we'd ever tasted!! The fish was also very fresh and absolutely delicious. Everything we ordered was top quality, well prepared and presented and the staff are all very friendly and chatty, whilst still providing excellent service. The added bonus is the location, with a lovely beach virtually on the doorstep and within walking distance, although be warned.... it is a very steep incline on the return journey! We would recommend Porth Lodge 100% and will definitely be returning in the not too distant future.

Unbeatable location, so close to the beach, we left our car at the lodge and walked 5 mins to the beach... our room was very nice, comfy bed, breakfast was included and really nice with a large amount of food, the full English was epic! Had a cute bar which we had a cheeky pre drink before a nice walk to a restaurant on the strip. Fully enjoyed our stay!
