This is our second stay at this Sheraton. It is in a good location in Hsinchu and the rooms are fairly big, but the positives end there. The service has really declined since our last visit. All the staff we encountered at the front desk or restaurant seemed untrained and not friendly. Check in took 30 minutes after I reached the desk even after I checked in on the app. The breakfast spread is decent. As a platinum member, I get 2 free breakfast daily and I had 2 kids under 12 who eat free. I also booked a third room for my mother that included breakfast. Not sure what was difficult about the math that we would receive 5 breakfasts. It took 10 minutes for the front desk to sort this out. Every morning at breakfast the staff would stop us and question us saying breakfast was not included. I had to explain daily I had 3 rooms and as platinum I have 2 free breakfasts with 2 free kids breakfasts and one room with breakfast included in the rate. When you ask for anything at the desk or restaurant, they looked confused. No smiles and we even asked in mandarin so language was not an issue. After traveling across Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Japan, I can safely say this hotel had the worse service. The rates are also high for Taiwan claiming they are a 5 star hotel. But service was 100 times worse than the Fairfield Taichung which cost about a third of Sheraton Hsinchu. Finally as we checked out we asked for bell hop service with our luggage and the front desk asked how many luggage we had. We told them we had 7 large luggages and 3 carry on. They sent a front desk lady dressed in a dress suit up with a rolling cart. Needless to say she really could not load or move any luggage so my husband had to do it himself. Really unacceptable for a 5 star hotel. If you are looking for good service go elsewhere until management properly trains the staff to be worthy of a 5 star Sheraton.
