Sheraton Hsinchu Hotel

The room was great.

The food selection.

My family and I have been coming to the Sheraton Hsinchu nearly annually for the last 4 or so years. Our kids love the Bobo Theme Rooms and play space, and I rest easy that they have safe and fun diversions while I'm in Hsinchu on business. I wanted to write this review as a special shout out for this past visit to the concierge team for their thoughtfulness. Unlike previous visits, we stayed through the weekend to squeeze in some extra time in Taiwan and had a night flight out of TPE. Upon overhearing my discussion with my kids about needing to check out of the hotel and leave our luggage at the bell desk while we took our daypacks around the city for a few hours until it was time to leave for the airport, the concierge team took the initiative to offer a later check-out time (4pm) so that we would still have a "home base" at the hotel until our airport shuttle pickup. It's impossible to overstate the overwhelming feeling of relief and gratitude for this kind action. As anyone traveling with kids will understand, having a private space to decompress and clean up - particularly before a long, transoceanic flight - was absolutely amazing. It may not have been much for the hotel to arrange for an afternoon checkout on an off-peak day, but the thoughtfulness of the concierge to volunteer this definitely made a huge impression on my family. We'll be back!

Everything was good or OK but the smell or odor from restaurants inside the hotel and doorways is unpleasant.

The room was large, modern and comfortable. The staff were friendly.

The lighting in the bathroom was poor for makeup. The food was overcooked, overpriced, cold and tasteless and poorly presented, both dinner and breakfast. The bath tub was awkward to access, the taps were hard to balance the temperature and in the sink were round and slippery and hard to control with wet hands. There was no bar to sit and relax and have a drink. There was ridiculously loud music in the lobby making it hard to hear the reception as I checked in. The queue for checking and the checking in process was long. I could continue. I sound like a Karen already, but normally I review quite high for most places. I just thought for the price this was terrible value. If you want to charge a lot more than alternatives then get things right. The food in particular, was really low quality and made me really want to avoid staying there again.

Beautiful property, clean spacious rooms, in hotel dining, and convenient to local business.
