"Nice Location but Service needs a big improvement"

8.0

This review is one of the hardest ones I've had to write. We enjoyed our stay at the Samoa Beach Resort, but the resort itself has a long way to go to actually maintain the title of "resort". We were there from the week before Easter until Easter Monday. I'd booked and paid for this stay when Sheration were still managers. It is a really nice location. The beach is close to perfect, and certainly somewhere where you can lie and sunbathe. You can go swimming out to a little island. There is breakwaters on either side. The swimming pool in the resort is excellent. It is probably overfilled for what it was intended for, but it is one of the few resorts we've been to where it is deep enough to actually swim properly without hitting your hands on the bottom of the pool. There are theoretically two restaurants, but only one of them was open for most of the time we were there. And the second one opened only on the last two days that we were there. The cooking is terrible. I can't put it any other way. I don't believe that we had one meal that was in any way memorable. They were all very mediocre. During the first part of the stay, which was in the week prior to Easter, a lot of items were not available on the menu. This was particularly upsetting for my adult daughter who was with us, because she can't eat a lot of things. And so a lot of the stuff that she wanted to eat was just simply not available or she had to eat the same thing day in, day out. By the end of the third day, we had decided that we'd had enough and we started trying to find other restaurants to go and eat. Breakfast was included in our hotel stay and we had it all but one day. Very mediocre, very hit and miss, different menu items every day. Getting cooked meals was hit and miss with items often missed or replaced by something else. During last part of the stay, which was over the Easter weekend, they started to offer a much wider variety of food and dishes for guests. The rooms themselves were excellent. The air conditioning was excellent. They kept it mainly clean, although, on about the third day, they just failed to service our room. We requested them to come and do that. And they simply ignored us or didn't do it for whatever reason. But more significantly, each time they cleaned the room, they left four bottles of fresh water, which is a must at this resort to use fresh water rather than tap water. We asked for these separately but were never delivered. We were left without any water for that particular night. I complained to the desk the next day but all I got was a "sorry". I think that it actually sums up the whole thing. They want to try hard, but they haven't achieved a level of quality and consistent service that is needed for a resort like this. I counted that there was about 160 rooms. In the first few days of the stay, there was probably about five of them being used. By the end of Easter, there was probably about 20 or 25. So all in all, we enjoyed ourselves, but it was a very touch and go experience. I not stay here again?

staff very helpful and friendly room was clean daily and towels replaced daily. Food was lovely

Room was too far to walk back and forth to the restaurant for an unwell family member as family used the restaurant to eat. not enough lighting at night walking back to the room at night. Bathroom at the restaurant was not kept clean. There's a lot of staff around that someone could keep an eye on these facilities. It's a stunning place and minor issues could ruin the whole effort for a beautiful place Otherwise its a beautiful place. Would stay there again. Thank you for the lovely stay l, thoroughly enjoyed it. Faafetai lava

To be honest one of the down rating hotels ever, $80 tala per person to spend on food, and they had no milk for coffees, The bathroom was not up to standard, The blow dryer wouldn't even work probably, the only had body wash and shampoo and conditoner, the pools are not clean to the point were my son got sick and ended up dizzy from being here... Staff are so slack that they dont know anything, and their towards other workers... the recepitonist , kept lying to me and my family about our flight being delayed and was very unprofessional they had water bottles in the bathroom with glasses, and only 2 rolls of toilet paper, we ordered from the dinner menu but was told by a tomboy to pay extra cause our order was over.. Would not let anyone go here tbh!!! Bad customer service ever, and they reckon only one life jacket for person to kayak

"Great spot for a honeymoon sunshine, relaxation and swimming."

8.0

Beautiful entrance and traditional elements around the grounds. Staff were so helpful and friendly, nothing was a bother. Range of dishes to chose from for meals and the beach, pool and cocktails amazing!

Lack of swim up bar but staff were happy to bring drinks down to the pool area.

"Honeymoon Escape to Samoa"

9.0

My husband and I travelled to Samoa for our honeymoon. We had been recommend this resort by a friend. We loved how close the resort was to the airport, 5 minutes! However, this did mean you were quite far from the main town, but honestly we went there, and were pretty disappointed. The resort was huge, but extremely quiet as we traveled during the low season. We actually really enjoyed how quiet it was. Most of the time, we had the pool to ourselves. The staff were friendly and the room was massive with a extremely comfy bed! There was also a couple of resort cats that we fell in love with, especially the boy cat. He was super friendly and we sneaked him some breakfast/dinner when we could.

Cost of cocktails/food - felt overpriced but the food was really good! I am a vegetarian and really enjoyed the veggie curry & black bean burger.
