Alba Glasgow

Felt like I got put in a room with five youngsters, felt like a refuge.

While it's not right at the heart of Glasgow, it is easily accessible by both train and bus. It's very clean and gives you the feeling of what it's like living in a Victorian house. I first booked for one night and ended up staying for 3 nights. There is Co-op and other shops to buy groceries and the kitchen is very suitable to cook anything you want.

The hostel is more than 30 minutes from the center by bus, but the bus service is good and modern. And many of the buses are double-deckered for a good view of the city. An affordable steak and beer restaurant just next door, and 5 minute walk to a very good food market (Morrison's). Friendly staff, clean rooms and public areas, and a big kitchen for 'light cooking.' Only drawback - they prefer cash; said to be problem with credit card terminal.

Inexpensive compared to service provided. Good for budgeted student.

Réception assez froide, pas du genre à rigoler... Il faut nous a fallu payer en cash, donc ressortir pour aller chercher un distributeur. Sous prétexte que l'on partait trop tôt le matin, le réceptionniste n'a pas voulu nous laisser de clé pour sortir de l'hôtel, ni pour notre chambre (pas de verrou intérieur)... La cuisine en libre service n'est pas nettoyé, les poubelles non vidés... L'hôtel est loin du centre et les alentours pas joyeux. Si vous voulez vous laver et qu'il vous faut des serviettes, les serviettes vous seront facturées.... bref vraiment pas emballé surtout pour un prix assez élevé pour une chambre double... A ce tarif on trouve bien mieux...

My stay at this hostel was very pleasant. The location couldn't have been better with easy access to Downtown via bus or trains to all of Scotland. There were two grocery markets within five minute walking distance and the hostel has a full kitchen for everyone's use. The staff are pleasant and knowledgable about the area. The hostel itself is a lovely older victorian home with a comfortable lounge for watching tv or movies or just sitting and reading. I would definitely recommend Alba Hostel to all my friends and look forward to staying with them again on my next trip to Scotland.
