"A Lovely Stay"

8.0

A super hotel. Wonderful, attentive staff and excellent service. The hotel was beautifully presented throughout and we had the comfiest bed and pillows. As previous reviews have said there is a noisy, fuel smelly ferry that departs and arrives throughout the day right next to the hotel. We saw this as authentic India but it maybe would disturb if you were looking for a quiet, restful hotel. We stayed here for two nights as part of a tour so the ferry didn’t concern us. The hotel thoughtfully provide earplugs next to the bed. The food was good but we were restricted as to where we could eat as on a pre booked half board arrangement.

"Beautiful hotel"

10.0

• Beautiful historic setting: The hotel is a converted old boatyard, full of character and charm, located close to key sights like the Chinese fishing nets and Princes Street shopping area. • Excellent hospitality: Staff were warm and attentive – special mention to Jasmin (worlds best smile) at the front desk who remembered our room key without needing to ask, even after a short trip out. • Room quality: Rooms are spacious and well appointed, featuring large four-poster beds, lovely-smelling toiletries, robes, and slippers. A strong eco-conscious approach is evident throughout, with recycling initiatives and efforts to reduce plastic and water waste. • Dining highlights: The high tea offering is excellent, with a selection of sweet and savoury options and a choice of tea, coffee, or iced tea. Breakfast had a wide variety, including clear labelling for dietary restrictions. Only minor note – coffee at breakfast could be better. • Facilities and amenities: The pool and gardens are beautifully maintained and create a relaxing atmosphere. • Noise consideration: The hotel is located next to a busy ferry route, meaning there is some ferry noise during the day. Ear plugs are thoughtfully provided, but light sleepers or those hoping for a lie-in might want to be aware. • Overall experience: A truly memorable stay with lovely service, beautiful surroundings, and thoughtful touches throughout. Highly recommended for those wanting to experience Fort Kochi with style and warmth

"The Stay in an old Bungalow - that brought back colonial memories - an expensive affair that may not be worth the money"

8.0

A dream stay - in the luxury of a colonial holiday home. The rooms still maintain the design of the english colony times. With high beds which have steps to reach out onto the top with bed posts all around - red wood make. Clean and white linen, old style toilets and bath area. They had posted a letter for our anniversary along with a bottle of red wine. The old styling may not suit everybody's taste of stay with the lighting and interiors taking you back to those ages of suppression and exploitation - often bringing in moods of depression even as one tries to enjoy the expensive stay. The restaurants are a couple to choose from - food was good. The evening tea was served beside the courtyard which was quite green and well cared for. The courtyard had some of the old cannons planted there. The hotel provides a boat ride of nearly 1 hour which takes you around the backwaters of Kochi. The complimentary breakfast was good with a variety of food to choose from - made to order. The service was good and had young sprightly staff around. Being expensive not many guests were around - and l wonder whether it is worth all the money spent - as some of the newer holiday stays would be much more attractive and trendy for the discerning traveller

"Tremendous"

10.0

Pros: * old world charm * excellent service * decent location to explore Fort Kochi * marvellous food, including the best chicken biriyani in the world * the swimming pool is a lovely temperature when the sun is out * comfortable beds * decent showers * sockets take UK plugs Cons: * the ferry to Vypin is a bit close but isn’t too much of a distraction. All things considered, this is a cracking place.

"Best Brunton"

10.0

Best hotel we’ve stayed in for a while. Top class service especially the reception. Beautiful room on the first floor in the middle of the building overlooking the bay and swimming pool. Good size room with large bathroom. Real coffee and French press and a selection of real loose tea. Breakfast was a la carte with a daily local special. Both the Seafood and Armoury restaurants in the evening served wonderful food - the fish was especially good. Only issue is the noisy ferry.

"Highly recommend"

10.0

Absolutely wonderful stay at Brunton. The team are extremely helpful. Delicious food and a wonderful old world charm to the hotel. Close to the shops and other restaurants if you fancy a wander out too. The high tea, sunset cruise, yoga and walking tours are a lovely addition and great way to feel “at home”

"Lovely hotel and restaurants. Great location for Fort Kochi sights"

10.0

Lovely hotel and excellent restaurants .The staff were very friendly and keen to interact. The fish restaurant was one of the best we have had. The only downside was the ferry which docked next door was a bit noisy but we got used to it - each afternoon free tea and cakes . The pool area was very pleasant We would go back there again. Excellent position for Fort Kochi sight seeing

"A beautiful hotel, but the noise of the ferries is not conducive to a restful stay."

8.0

Fabulous hotel, but it was ruined by the proximity of the noisy ferries constantly going backwards and forwards from one side to the other. There are three restaurants to choose from and we ate in two of them. One evening I had Railway mutton curry, which was delicious. All rooms are sea facing. The bedrooms are very well furnished with a lovely bathroom with shower and bath. The swimming pool was a lovely temperature. Afternoon tea at 5pm was delicious with cakes and savoury options. The staff were very accommodating.

"A Superb Hotel"

10.0

This hotel wins immediately on check in. It has character and an ambience in the style and pedigree of a Raffles-type hotel...... down to "civilised" afternoon tea at 5 pm. Under the attentive and watchful eyes of the GM and Front Office Manager the whole hotel hums along with service to the fore. Three restaurants offer a variety of wonderful Indian and European cuisine. The location of the hotel makes for easy walking to various sites. To not stay here would mean missing a wonderful experience.
