Lindos Royal Resort

Great hotel, spa is great, clean room, staff were amazing, food was great, beach is nice only a short walk, the night entertainment was good.

As the title of this review suggests, this should not be advertised by the UK travel companies as a 5 star hotel. 3 star at best. There are some features of the hotel that make it look and feel like a 5 star. The reception/lobby looks great as you arrive and the staff are very helpful. The main restaurant also looks great as the photos demonstrate. However our room was very tired and in need of decoration/updating. We booked a family room with garden view. The wardrobes looked like they were pieced together with leftover panels from an IKEA pack. The bathroom was also tired - the shower was ok but it looked like I grouted the tiles (FYI I am awful at DIY!). That being said, the beds were comfy and our towels were changed everyday. It did the job though. The pool areas are also in need of updating. Water from both the pools and the rain had a tendency to gather in places and the tiles when wet were very slippery. There were also loose tiles in the pools and around the pool areas. The waterslides kept the kids entertained but there were muddy areas and again, slippery tiles. The slides are also far from the main pool and bar areas. The pool bar was nice with a good atmosphere but again was quite tired and in need of some TLC. The nicest bar in the hotel which looked part of a '5 star' resort is the bar behind the lobby. However, this bar is not part of the all inclusive offering as it was serving premium drinks (Mythos beer, international branded spirits etc.) The location of the hotel is good. Nice and fairly isolated but close to beautiful Lindos which is a 12 euro cab ride away. As mentioned before, the main restaurant area is a nice place to eat. The food was generally varied and tasty catering for all tastes (the freshly made pizza is excellent) and the grill area had different offerings each evening. However some of the buffet food was lukewarm at times. Same can be said for breakfasts and lunch. The desserts and cakes were excellent and varied from day to day. The afternoon food at the pool bar was good for a quick snack. Pizza and fries on offer every day, with a third offering of either burgers, nuggets or gyros depending on day. For the facilities, towels are a 10 euro deposit, the safe in the room costs extra and there are no irons and ironing boards in the rooms. The latter 2 items I would normally expect to be standard for a 5 star hotel. It is a very short downhill walk to the pebbly beach. Be weary of the larger rocks in the water by the shore but once you're in, the water is crystal clear and great for snorkeling and fish spotting. To summarise, we did enjoy our week stay. The hotel ticked most boxes and the staff are wonderful but it is missing the 'wow factor' you'd expect for 5 stars. But maybe that's me being picky.... We did enjoy our week stay

On arrival looks amazing but you will notice you are isolated to a degree,so let's start with the room nice clean but needs a bit of tlc. Open the door to our swim up pool looks great but again dirty in places and needs new loungers.Broken light and wires coming out of wall. Reported hair dryer not working but never fixed or replaced. Food, well don't think I had a hot meal all week the variety wasn't too bad but quality was lacking. Drinks were average but limited selection. The themed restaurants please avoid, the planters are full of cigarette ends and cat s..t The staff, helpful and polite. So overall the hotel is not a five star hotel far from it to honest,if they invested a bit of money and followed the theme of the bar where you are charged to drink (not all inclusive) this could be a good 4 star hotel but at the moment it is lacking in so many ways.

On our last day today, so positives, food wonderful, the main buffet is great and plenty choice for being all inclusive and resort has a nice feel to it. Many pools to choose from and slides pool is great fun for all ages. Staff all friendly and hard working and hotel is clean. Our family room in the (suite) 2000s block has gorgeous glass balcony and has been 70% refurbished with only the dated bathroom and old style doors remaining. That said the bathroom is huge. Views from hotel are amazing and you can book three restaurants per 7 night stay. These are worth going to, however, being vegetarian seemed to be an issue at the themed restaurants, which surprised me. Housekeeping does a great job and the resort cats are gorgeous and well behaved and the cats add to the ambience. Staying in October you can get a sun-bed easily, I don’t think this would be the case in the summer months, there are not enough for the hotel being full by far. The new reception and bar area is amazing and if this is the shape of things to come then this resort could be one of the best on Rhodes and the resort does need it. The spa is fantastic with well priced treatments and the lady who runs it is amazing. Things which need improvement, the all inclusive drinks are not good, so much so after our 5th night I could no longer have them, been to a few inclusive resorts and never had drinks like these. The pool bar wasps and flies were everywhere, there is no need for this. The wooden awnings and canopies across all restaurants are badly worn and need attention. There is a private cove area and grassed sun-bed area which is in a stunning spot, however, this is all tired and a mess., which is sad as it could be stunning. You’ll see many reviews mentioning slippery floors, the floors are slippy across the whole hotel and pool area drainage is very bad, so much so that you walk through stagnant water to get to your sun-bed. You actually watch people tentatively walking and almost slipping all the time, easily rectified with better drains and rubber mats for main walkways. My husband fell coming out of our room after a light shower of rain, so all tiled areas are hazardous. If you have small children, be aware, there is a-lot of glass across the whole resort too and the resort is wide open, anyone can walk in and the surrounding hotels, which are owned by the same group, have corridors/doors connecting them all. On the second last day we had money stolen from our locked hotel safe, the same day that we had lots of issues with our door key, this was disappointing as I had only read of locked safe thefts happening in Turkey. There is such a large gap under the room door that it would not be hard to unlock the room, and the safes have a staff master code for emergencies etc, but who knows, as could have easily been another guest or outsider. Underneath the Digital panel there are screws, so the safe is really not great. We brought cash for cabs/tips etc. I would highly recommend that for cash and/or sentimental valuables, to bring a key safe/mobile safe and just place this is your hotel safe or keep all valuables with you at all times. Despite this, we did enjoy our weeks stay, would we return? Probably not, due to theft, the terrible all inclusive drinks and the extensive TLC this resort still urgently needs.

Oh dear. This is not a nice hotel. There were so many issues with this hotel… the rooms are dated with numerous issues, grubby collapsed mattress, and more . The hotel is aching for a good clean. The food is low standard. The drinks are undrinkable. The staff are moody & atmosphere chronic. There is absolutely zero entertainment, and what there is, Is not advertised anywhere. The one night we managed to get a booking at the so called themed restaurant amazingly the kids disco was on.. there was a battle of the music btwn the restaurant & the disco The meal 3 course lasted 35 mins as they were keen to get us in & out. It was the Greek night and they served a very small child’s portion for the main… we left hungry. The women on reception are extremely standoffish… The MANAGEMENT both restaurant & GM, did not once say good morning or attempt to engage with any of the guests ! If you are coming here there is the hotel grand next door quiet but standards are much more as to what we were expecting or an Adult Blue TUI hotel down the road that offers 1st class luxury..

This is our second time at Lindos royal and again it has been amazing ! Absolutely gorgeous views from our room , sun all day every day on our balcony , staff so friendly and attentive and they work so hard to ensure Guests have the best experience, room cleaned on request , fresh towels and bedding ! Food is always good , always a good choice ! Drinks very strong lol ! I will highly recommend this place and will definitely return ! Yes there are some dated areas around site , but nothing that would put me off Well done Michalis and team xx

Just returned from a weeks stay .. I wouldn’t call it 5 star hotel but it was very nice .. firstly on arriving we wasn’t aware of holiday tax so be prepared plus have to pay 25 euros for safety deposit key !! A nice porter showed us to our room with bags .. our room 1404 was lovely it was a very large room and we had sea views .. would have liked to have tea/coffee facilities if it’s 5 star..food was lovely although breakfast ONE toasting machine for the entire numerous guests was silly hence we didn’t have toast all week but must say the omelettes freshly made were hot and nice..lunch and evening meals a very good choice I must say…hotel offered 3 specialty nights which we done the Greek and Asian nights and they we’re fantastic but you do have to pay for drinks here ..all staff very friendly and helpful, nice pools and lovely comfy sun beds.. Negative points are: for the whole of the outside area there 4 toilets and it was a mixed toilet so two for men and women .. didn’t find out till last day there was one other toilet by adult pool.. the music played in both pool bar and calypso bar was soooooo loud and the taste in music wasn’t suitable at all !! The activity staff just wonder around doing not much and play what they like .. I did complain one day can they make it background music and not boom boom boom music The hotel is a bit far out from anywhere to walk to which we missed .. but got a bus two days and a taxi from beach area to Lindy’s town was 10 euros.. all in all a lovely week though

Disappointed on arrival as room looked nothing like the promo pics, sofa bed for my 6ft son was was uncomfortable, springs were felt through the mattress. However views to sea were lovely, and they provided blankets and extra pillows the next day as one thin pillow per person on arrival was not sufficient. Water provided in the fridge is one small bottle per person (only 2 for our party of 3), which was to be refilled at the pool bar water cooler - good for reduction in plastic consumption, if not a little misleading in promo. Efficient room cleaning and provision of clean towels was good. Beach towels provided for €30 deposit, spa will exchange for fresh ones each day. Hotel grounds are very run down, sunbeds broken and not comfortable, astro turf worn out, cigarette butt's and rubbish left around make for an unpleasant experience. Very dangerous slippy tiles in pool bar area and restaurants. We jad some rain showers in October, hotel didn't cope with making it safe, many yellow slip warning signs were put up with puddles everywhere in restaurants and walk ways making it unpleasant to find a dry table, and walk to and from the buffet through slippy puddles. No attempt to make restaurant floor safe and comfortable for guests does not speak 5 star. Just scattering of yellow slippy surface signs for guests to navigate around says "we're not liable if you slip, we told you, just deal with it, while we continue to not provide a 5 star service". Walk down to the private beach was dangerous with step lights broken, empty cabanas surrounded by dirty old astro turf, litter not picked up for the whole week. Soft drinks are not branded, so taste unpleasant. Water tastes metallic, we bought our own water from supermarket. The food - breakfast is repetitive and bland. Lunch was limited, dinner is a different theme each evening with regular items, not every good quality, mostly luke warm. So many stray cats fighting in the restaurant and jumping up onto the chairs to grab food. Pool areas cramped with sunbeds packed tightly together. After day one we hired a car and explored the island not spending too much time at the rundown hotel. Booked the themed restaurants on arrival, very limited places, so earliest availability was our last two nights - Asian and Mediterranean, but the food here was the same as was served in the main restaurant, just a different setting, by the pool. The staff are mostly unhappy with no eye contact. One guy serving tea and coffee (have to queue for hot drinks, not available as self serve) was friendly and polite. As we had evening flights had to pay extra for late checkout €5 per hr - even though arrived late at night also. The hotel layout is very confusing on different levels, access through the restaurant is locked 2 hrs before meal times (which is the most direct route through the complex) making the route from the lobby to rooms difficult to navigate around the outer paths. Rooms are located in 6 different annex buildings. The spa is very disappointing, rude lady that doesn't give the feeling of zen when you enter. The signage to the spa is almost non existant with a tiny sticker on the corner of a walkway to hotel rooms, see photo. Gym was very small with minimal equipment, which you must book a time slot for in advance, not able to be flexible and walk in, even though it seems under used. I think when this hotel was first built in 1996 it would have been quite nice its very run down now and looks low budget, many broken tiles, warning tape around holes and areas needing maintenance. When booking be wary of promo shots of this hotel that omit the flaws and over promise. During our week we travelled by hire car to West coast Limni beach, Lindos town is stunning, great lunches on travels and cute tavernas. Made the most of location, so enjoyed holiday, but didn't feel hotel was value for money or pleasant to come back to after a day exploring.
