Iberostar Waves Cozumel - All Inclusive

Everything about this place is great- from the pleasant, helpful staff to the food, to the layout of the facility with meandering vegetation-lined paths separating 2-4 unit colorful, thatch-roofed buildings. I want to give a shout-out to Betty (Beatrice), who directs some of the games during the day and completely transforms to nightclub MC in the evening. I don’t know how anyone can maintain that much positive energy for so many hours in one 24 hour period day-after-day. She is a prime example of the positive attitudes here. With a large contingent of divers, and Sun worshipers, not everyone wants to play pool games and it’s got to be hard to attract participants, but it is nice to have activates available for those who wish to participate.

It was a fantastic all around experience for my twelve friends and I! The entertainment team is top notch!! The way they communicate and plan events is astounding.

Our first experience with Iberostar cozumel was so special we brought friends to experience it with us again. They were totally blown away with the facilitys.

My husband just spent 9 days at the resort. It was our first time in Cozumel and first time at any Iberostar resort. We were absolutely blown away with the service we received. We did become a member of Iberostar but the service leading up to becoming a member was excellent. John and Michael were so helpful in explaining the program to us. We never felt pressured into purchasing at any time. The food was good and we always found something we enjoyed Mexican night at the buffet was top of my list while the smokehouse was my husband’s favorite. I used google translate to leave notes for housekeeping and the few issues we had were addressed and corrected immediately. We are already planning on coming back in December.

A nice hotel with plenty of greenery and animals on the premises. The best location on the island for diving activities.

I was very disappointed with our stay at Iberostar Waves Cozumel. I have visited Cozumel three times in the past twelve months, and this experience stood in stark contrast to the quality I have come to expect. The food ranged from marginal to poor, especially at the specialty restaurants which were consistently full and underwhelming. Wine quality was low, there were no top shelf alcohol options, and overall the experience felt more like a low dollar cruise line than a resort. The rooms are in serious need of renovation and felt dated and worn throughout our stay. Service was a major issue. The team appeared poorly led and in need of basic service training. Attention to detail was largely absent. For example, soap in public restrooms was not refilled for seven consecutive days. Guest services asked to meet with us on two separate occasions and did not follow through. The people of Cozumel are generally kind and hospitable, but the employees here seemed to lack an inspiring general manager, along with proper training and support. This is an IHG affiliated property, yet there was no recognition of my Diamond Elite status. This was particularly disappointing given that I booked five rooms for a family of ten for eight nights. We have stayed at El Presidente and the Westin in Cozumel and had excellent experiences with food, drinks, and service, which made the contrast here even more stark. I would recommend avoiding this property until significant improvements are made in leadership, service, and overall quality.
