Everything was fine. Not new, but very adequate. Friendly and helpful reception. No problem to have a little dog in its own bed.

Location is approx a mile from downtown and while clean, the place is a bit run-down. On the positive side there was a washer and dryer available for use and the kitchenette was well stocked with the essentials. The owner was a bit cranky but very helpful and accommodating

I read another review that described the motel as quirky by American standards and that about sums it up. We had to walk through a narrow outdoor corridor, past the laundry, up the stairs to our room. It did have a lot of privacy as a result. Unfortunately it was right over Bealey which is a noisy street. I will know for next time I visit Christchurch to book off of Bealey if I want a quieter location. Being right on Bealey was nice because it did allow for easy street access. The shower had a stainless steel floor which made a lot of noise as you moved around in the shower. I was a little concerned for our downstairs neighbours. The staff are very chatty and friendly.
