Iberostar Waves Tucán - All Inclusive

First time in Riviera Maya. LOVED our stay at the Iberostar Waves Tucan (essentially the same place as Waves Quetzal). Resort was absolutely beautiful. The jungle was filled with wildlife. Our jungle facing room was visited by spider monkeys every afternoon. So cool! The room itself was fine but on the small side. Not a biggie for us. The beds were comfortable and the a/c worked well. Water pressure was occasionally an issue. The beach and pool area was fantastic. Plenty of places to lounge. Appreciated that they “policed” people who put their stuff out early to “save” lounge chairs. My whole family thought the food was fantastic. So much to choose from. Particularly enjoyed the hibachi restaurant and the breakfast buffets. Service across the board was great. Can’t single out anybody because they were all wonderful. Was not an issue for us, but if you have mobility issues, some of the walking paths are slippery and uneven. Gym/ fitness area was small and if you are a serious tennis player, the courts are soft and spongy. Evening entertainment was ok. Fire show on beach cut short due to rain- bummer. Cab into Playa del Carmen $20 round trip. Super fun! Shopped, enjoyed street entertainers and had a great dinner. Felt completely safe. Generally a wonderful trip. If you are expecting Four Seasons- this isn’t it. If you want a nice, affordable, Mexican vacation in the jungle with an awesome stretch of beach, you could do a lot worse!

Great vacation! Food and drinks were amazing. A lot of wildlife and beautiful beach. We would come back to this resort.

No parties or loud music after 10 pm, safe for children, great food options

The entertainment was great but still gave you time to relax and enjoy the beach/pool.

We were not happy with our room when we first arrived. It was old and dark and so humid even with the air on that the sheets were wet. We upgraded, for a price of course, and the new room was 100 times better and made our stay enjoyable. We are mom, daughter and 2 year old twins. We always felt safe and the girls enjoyed the kids pool and slides. The staff was awesome and is what really made the trip for us. Food was ok, the beach is beautiful but there was a lot of seaweed which we expected. Pool is very big and clean with a lot of loungers available. It’s cool to see the peacocks, monkeys and other animals at the resort.

I loved the jungle environment maintained on the property! Gives you that tropical feel! Property could use music at swim up bar area as it is somewhat removed from main pool entertainment area.
