Everest Hotel

Where do I start? First of all, this is one of the first times in my life I have posted a review. It all started when my wife and I and our 2 kids planned for their Uncle to come see us at the hotel, visit for a bit, then go eat. After all, we are here from another country to visit family we haven't seen in over a year. BUT when my brother-in-law showed up and wanted to come up to meet us, the front desk told him he was not allowed passed the lobby. Well, we figured maybe it's a security thing and we need to escort him up. NOPE! It seems as though hotel guests are not allowed any visitors, even momentarily! What am I? A high school teenager who isn't allowed to have friends over? So we pleaded with the staff and management and the answer was a stern no. Ok, fine. We are here to visit family and they are not allowed to come up to our room, then lets cancel the rest of the weekend here and head over to the Hampton (where we have stayed many times before and should have stuck with). Well, we tell the front desk we are not happy and want to cancel the remaining nights after tonight. We booked through Priceline so they said we need to call them. Called Priceline and they sent a request to the hotel to approve the reservation change. Easy and all should be good right? Nope! Hotel manager said sorry, but no we will not approve the cancellation. Their reason is they are booked and already have us assigned for the weekend. Except that according to all the booking sites right now and their front desk they still have rooms available. So that was just a flat out lie and excuse. The manager "nicely" said we are free to leave the hotel and go somewhere else but there will be no refund. HORRIBLE customer service. They absolutely do not care about the customer, only the money. What a simple exception to make in light of the issues. A simple click of a button to Priceline approving the change, but nope. So the 2 issues here are that they have this ridiculous No Visitors AT ALL policy, and that their customer service is lacking to say the least when it comes to helping their guests out. By the way, there is absolutely no mention of this no visitor policy that I could find anywhere online and was defiantly not provided before booking. In addition, don't let the positive review full you. This is just a pig with lipstick on it. Paint and decor is new and updated for good looks, but... 1. The Pool smells like one of those outdoor portable restrooms. It was DISTGUSTING! And if you do not plan on getting in the water and only sitting by the pool, don't do it. The pool is enclosed with NO ventilation or air circulation so it is very hot, 2. The room restroom shower door has gaps and sprays water all over the restroom floor (it's a tiny restroom with standing room for 1 person only), 3. There is a weird step up and then right back down going from the room to the restroom probably to contain any standing water and not allow it to leak into the room. The problem is that this is very odd and if you don't watch for it you hit your toes on it every time you go to the restroom. 4. Shower water is barely warm when turned to max hot.5. Don't be fooled by the idea of being "downtown" as most locals tend to avoid the area. It's not the best of areas. The best areas with modern stores, restaurants, etc is not close by. 6. I would advise against parking in the underground garage yourself as it is very tight. So the only option is valet. Meaning it is not just a quick walk out to your car if you need something. Oh, and this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel??? What a joke. Not even close by a long shot. More like a 3 star. Take it from someone who travels a lot in both the US and Mexico, and as someone who almost feels like a local in Victoria, DON'T STAY HERE! Hope this helps you! Stay at the Hampton.

I love the location and the staff!!! Very nice, very professional, i love the pool & the breakfast!!! Than you!!! The best place to stay!!!
