The Malthouse

Nice lunch. Friendly, helpful service. Good room, not too hot despite the heatwave. Comfortable bed. Very clean. Nice wash basin and a good user-friendly shower.

1. We had a double room but only one set of keys. I often return 2-3 hours after my wife, so not ideal. 2. We were told price included breakfast, which I assumed meant full English, but menu clearly stated that continental breakfast was included with room booking, so did not order anything other than cereal and toast for myself. On checkout, I was told that my wife's English breakfast was included with our room booking. Quite angry that the menu is utterly misleading and I could've had sausage, egg and black pudding. 3. My wife did order breakfast, but has a small appetite so listed all the things that she did not want. When her breakfast arrived, it was enormous, presumably in a mistaken effort to give us "value for money". In our view, this is utterly wasteful and not good value at all. It makes us both quite angry and upset. Please can you take disciplinary action against whichever staff member decided that someone ordering no sausage needs double helping of bacon. They have no place in catering in modern Britain where so many cannot afford tge food they need. I felt obliged to help her eat the food provided.

Our flight was delayed into Manchester so we were worried we would be too late to eat. The restaurant officially stops serving at 8:00pm but although we didn't arrive until 8:15, they were happy to serve us and we had a very enjoyable meal along with a decent pint of beer. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfast was enormous and perfectly cooked making the inclusive price we paid exceptional value. Throughout our stay, the staff were friendly, helpful and courteous. We would certainly book the Malthouse again.

Next time we stay, we will ask for a rear facing room. Ours overlooked the main road although, in truth, the traffic noise really wasn't that bad.

Location was ideal, staff were really friendly. Room was comfortable and clean.

Lock on door would not lock properly from outside but was fixed on last night

We arrived early, staff very friendly, had a cup of tea in the bar awaiting our friends. Checked in, room was very nice, staff were very friendly and it was a great experience. We had a meal in the restaurant which was excellent, very efficient staff and extremely helpful and friendly.

Scenic location close to Calderdale way. Food was outstanding, especially the desserts! Lovely seating area out front.

Existing door closures require adjusting and doors on the stairwell could do with them fitting, inconsiderate guests just let the doors slam. My room was very light at dawn. Advise ear plugs and night mask, as with many other hotels.
