Non-South Africans should realize that facilities like this are a far cry from a “proper” game lodge experience. The developers of the facility have done a good job in cobbling together land and stocking it with wildlife, but it really is more of a glorified zoo than a proper game reserve. The facilities are nice and the staff are lovely, so it's certainly worth a visit. But I wouldn't recommend staying more than a day.

Second time to Garden Route Game Lodge and it was just as good the second time! All in all an excellent visit.

Fantastic property, great, smiley and polite staff, AMAZING food, good games!

lodge was ok. staff very friendly. more like an open zoo, not a game reserve, most animals are in located areas. dinner was poor, breakfast fine. average to say the best

Beautiful accommodation in the luxury family suite and we loved the game drives, our guide was excellent (thank you Hannes!). The heated family pool was also really nice surprise, all round our expectations were exceded!

Excellent - the price included two game drives and full board meals which were great. Our guide was excellent. The entire stay/experience was great!

We stayed for two nights in a lodge room. Was a bit cramped for 2 adults and 2 kids but loved the bathroom and the sitting area outside. The room is equipped with a bar fridge and a microwave which came in quite handy. The lodge has a jacuzzi and the kids pool is heated so my son managed to swim despite the cool weather when we were there. Loved the game drives though I felt 2 days was more than enough to explore the place. The food was ala carte due to covid but was plentiful and really good. Our ranger Tracy was very good. All in all we really enjoyed our stay.
