"A non smile hotel"

We had just stayed at Hotel Rangá for two nights, we left with happy hearts after the exceptionell service with a smile and outstanding food. Next stop 2 nights at Grimsborgir. This was a completely different experience. From the moment we entered the reception until leaving we were met with coldness, stone faced staff and completely lack of interest to make our stay as pleasurable as possible. It was a weird feeling and it just hit home how a friendly smile will go a long way to make guests feel welcome and wanted. Grimsborgir staff was unfortunately the only people we met who showed no interest to make our stay memorable. It was memorable but not in the way it should be. So sorry to write this negative comment but meeting so many upbeat, proud of your country people we were sailing through it all loving every minute until Grimsborgir.

Great location for the Golden Circle. We stayed here overnight after seeing Gulfoss, Geysir and Kerid Crater and headed out to Thingevillir National Park the next day. Perfectly located for this itinerary. Rooms are very generously sized with comfortable beds. Be aware that the hotel is actually several independent buildings so don't unload your bags for check in!

Curtains were not quite black out so bring an eye mask for the midnight sun season.
