Hotel La Casona Real

*Allowed to check in 1 hour 10 mins late. First time I confronted this. On my reservation, it says 2 pm, but they insisted on at 3 pm. They said I shouldn't consider what booking says it's normally 3 pm. What should I consider as a reference? Of course the portal I booked. On the other hand, I made my arrangements accordingly so booked my ferry from Playa del Carmen. If I knew before, I would book a later ferry not to lose time. *Very noisy hotel. Noise coming from both outside and inside by the staff and guests. Nobody warns them. Housekeepers listen to music loudly while cleaning. I may not feel good so prefer to stay in the room, right? *So many bedbugs and ants in the room. *Definitely not value for money. That's one of the most expensive hotel I stayed during my 1 month travel in Mexico. They charge lots of money but don't even provide a small bottle of water. The room itself also very outdated. Bathroom is very small and outdated. *Don't bother to go down for breakfast like I did in the last day. It's very unprofessional that you have to wait 20 mins for breakfast until they prepare you a very basic plate. It consists of 2 slice of toast bread (ready from supermarket), 1 small pack of jam, butter is already on the table so you have to use what other guests left, not tasty omlette and unfresh juice. Coffee is in the thermos which is already on thr table. If you go down to have breakfast at 8 am or 11 am, the same thermos will be there. So be ready to drink cold coffee. *Housekeepers clean the room but they don't renew items. Bed sheet was torn, they keep the half soap or shampoo. Why don't yoi bring another one? How much could it cost? *Air-conditioner and ventilator on the ceiling were full of dust. Not sure when it was last cleaned. DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND this hotel to other travellers. You pay a lot but don't get anything in return. Better to sleep in a tent on the beach.

I usually stay at 4 star hotels in the tourist area. This time I wanted something a little further out and cheaper. This hotel is about 4 blocks from the pavilion where the ferry pier is. The area is completely safe. There is a nice local bar across the street. The hotel is older and the rooms are dated. However, they are clean and comfortable. The free breakfast is great as well. If you want to save money, this is the place to stay. Its a clean place to sleep and have breakfast but nothing more.

My husband and I had an amazing time at this hidden gem! We were there from November 20th through November 27th. I loved being walking distance from everywhere! We were able to walk to the Mercado municipal, to a cash exchange, great tacos and to the ferry! Downtown was a hop skip and a jump away, we even walked to the airport. Everyone was super sweet! Veronica was always there with a smile and very useful information on public transportation, popular attractions and much more. Jennifer made our check in super easy, she also had an reliable answer to all my many questions. Doña Ana and Doña Gloria were super sweet. They made us feel like we were having breakfast in our aunts kitchen. Esmeralda is a hard working young woman that made us feel right at home! I've already recommended La casona real to all my friends and family!

This is an older property which is small and kept up nicely. My room had a fridge, ceiling fan, and air-conditioner. It was always clean and unoccupied rooms were aired out everyday. I like firm beds and mine was perfect. There is a hot breakfast included by the pool with eggs, beans, bread/tortillas, and coffee. The pool is clean and at least 45 feet long. Staff are helpful like family. One block away is a gym, a money exchange, and a supermarket. There is a fish taco restaurant across the street and the main market with more local restaurants is only three blocks. It is a 6 minute walk to the square by the ferry terminal.

Great location! When you get off the ferry you walk straight on that street a couple of blocks and your there. The check in was very smooth and fast the pool was great and the included breakfast and service was very nice I would recommend and definitely stay again. My family had a great time in Cozumel.
