South Sands Hotel

Absolutely incredible hotel. The room was so spacious and comfortable. Great location you can see that beautiful beach and get a drink on the balcony to watch the waves, we were also very lucky and had beach access from our room so it was easy to carry our inflatable kayak down which I greatly appreciate. The food was incredible, breakfast was nice but we also ate at the restaurant and really enjoyed our night there plus service was amazing. Generally the staff here were just all round amazing, in every area whether you are checking in or using the bar, fantastic. I highly recommend staying here, everything was brilliant even something simple like the towels, lots of towels and they were so high quality. They provide you with these nice biscuits too from this small company with your coffee supplies. I will be coming back here to stay again.

My shower fluctuated between hot and cold water. The lobster bisque starter and crab linguine main at the restaurant tasted exactly the same and was disappointing ordering them both to only realise this.

Good hotel with well appointed rooms. Food (Breakfast & Dinner) were excellent, Reasonable parking although its easy to miss the entrance and drive by.

Some distance from Salcombe - 30 min walk along narrow and busy road or 15 minutes by sea tractor/ferry during the day. Drive to & parking in Salcombe can be a chore.

Everything in the hotel was of high quality and staff were friendly and helpful, particularly reception staff. We upgraded to a sea view room as it would have been a shame to have missed the fabulous view from the front of the hotel. We chose this hotel for it's close proximity to Overbeck's NT garden. It was a just a short uphill climb - about 10/15 minutes away.

We used the ferry to get into Salcombe as there was no available shuttle bus or public bus from this hotel. It took about 20 to 30 minutes to climb up and down to the town, only suitable for the physically fit! We had a very good evening meal in the hotel but the service was painfully slow and gluten free knowledge of the waiting staff was a little lacking.
