"Fantastic apartment"

10.0

Booked this with a friend very last minute for a short trip. We were a bit hesitant because we couldn't find out much online and there are relatively few reviews. The apartment was amazing. Two bedrooms, one king, one with two singles. The room with two singles was en suite and there was a main bathroom with full bath and shower. Pretty well equipped kitchen- inc. fridge/ freezer (on expedia it said an optional extra). Balconies front and back, sea views on three sides, granted two sides with high rises but pretty spanish houses and the hills on the other side and it's still nice to look out. 19th floor so it was quite windy at times! Access to three beautiful pools which are more or less complete (they have just renovated and were finishing off the showers). Less than 500m to the beach and probably the same the other way to a supermarket. Plenty of bars and restaurants on the beach front (albeit not very Spanish/ traditional/ cultural) and really quite a nice beach- just the right amount of people and atmosphere. Fairly easy walking distance to the main town of Calpe (maybe 30 minutes?). We had a car and parked on street for free. We were told the bays charge during July and August. Took us an hour from Alicante airport to drive on the A70 toll road- very straight forward. Easy to find the place to pick up the keys in the old town. 200 Euro deposit. The only minor thing was that we couldn't get the boiler on after the first night. It was too late on Saturday to call by the time we realised and the office is shut on Sundays. The only number we had was for emergencies so we had two nights of cold showers. It didn't bother us too much as it was tepid rather than cold- refreshing after a hot day. Would definitely recommend the apartment- especially for the price. Calpe itself wasn't my favourite (prefer something a bit more cultural) but perfect for a few days on the beach.

"A wonderful destination"

10.0

I first visited the Coral Beach Bar in 2001 and have been enjoying its heavenly salads and mouthwatering rosé wines ever since. During one memorable lunch in 2002, I got the inspiration to write my first novel, Greed, but that's another story.

"Friendly staff, great pools, well maintained"

8.0

Two tall towers located within two minutes walk of two supermarkets and the beach. The tourist train stops right outside the apartments and runs between Coral Beach and Calpe town (well worth a ride, especially through the old town). We stayed in an apartment on floor 20 which was booked through booking.com and rented through Alguileras Guzman (about 5 mins drive past Calpe towards Moraira). Lovely clean two bedroom apartment with everything needed for a family of four, except maybe the most important aspect in July - air conditioning! Great views and a through draft on floor 20. The children loved the swimming pools, three pools (paddling pool, medium sized pool and a large pool 25metres) never crowded which was very surprising and another surprise was the large pool being heated. Lifeguard is on duty from 11am-9pm everyday and access to the pool is through a keycode which makes it very safe. Our apartment did not have allocated parking but on asking at the main reception we were given a secure parking space for €4.50 per day - well worth it as most of the streets surrounding are 'pay and display' ticket machines. Would definitely stay at Coral Beach again but not without aircon in the summer months.

"Great location with fabulous views"

8.0

We stayed for 25 days and were pleased with the accommodation - we had booked a one bedroomed apartment but were allocated a 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom apartment which was spacious and did the job perfectly. We were on the 12th floor in block 3 and had a great view of the sea plus 2 balconies. Furniture was basic but useable and we also had a washing machine on the rear balcony. TV was in Spanish only and the in room wifi only worked for 2 of our 25 night stay. There is however wired broadband access on the ground floor. The kitchen was small but adequate -there was a microwave, oven and gas hob but no electric kettle though It mentioned on the booking that there is a parking fee - you can avoid this by parking on side streets (which we did and it was safe) - however in peak season I suspect this may be more difficult

"Lunch"

8.0

There is no where like this for a Shirley Valentine moment and we are regular visitors with our family, uk, and local Spanish friends. Food has definitely improved over the last few years with food to match the location. Unfortunately though, we ordered a fideua that in my opinion was fantastic tasting but I think the stock had not been sieved properly and my wife swallowed what we think was a prawn shell and nearly choked, think of Mrs Doubtfire and the Pierce Brosnan scene?? Staff weren't overly bothered, fortunately other diners were!! And the local Dr, the only Juan!! could not have been more helpful. It has not put us off as there is no location like it and on our return visit via the great cliff top foot path was excellent and the staff showed a little more concern.

"Very enjoyable week, but shame about the check-in procedure!"

8.0

We stayed at the Coral Beach Apartments with friends for a week in Sept 2011. We had a pleasant stay although the (late night) check-in process was a bit of a nightmare. We arrived about 1am and went to the Turmalina hotel as instructed. They had a record of the booking but said we had to collect the keys (and door codes for main entrance and the building where we were staying) from an office beside the Hotel Esmarelda down the road. We turned up there but the guy spoke very little English. We had booked 2 one bedroom apartments but the office only had the keys for 1 two bedroom apartment. He eventually told us to go to the Amber Apartments (behind the Hotel Diamande) the next day to sort it out. We did that and they let us keep the two bedroom apartment and gave us another two bedroom apartment to apologise for the inconvenience. Also, there was never anyone manning the reception desk during our stay (I guess due to fact it was starting to get a bit quieter in September), so even if we had arrived during the day the check-in process still wouldn't have been straightforward. The apartments were clean and had ensuites in the main bedroom. The cooking facilities were adequate. The supermarkets were very close by. The beach was 5 minutes walk. Swimming was great. Sun loungers and umbrellas were quite expensive (12 euros for 2 loungers and an umbrella no matter what the time of the day). We had no problem finding nice restaurants and bars along the beach front but also ventured into Calpe, Benidorm and Alicante using a hire car. There were parking spaces at Coral Beach but I think you had to pay. We were always able to get a (free) park on the street outside the apartments. Would also recommend a trip to the Algar Fountains in Callosa d'En Sarria. Weather was perfect every day. Overall it was a very enjoyable week, just a shame about the check-in.

"Lovely Town, really relaxing break."

8.0

We had private transfer fro Alicante and saw that the keys needed to be collected from the Turmalina so we asked the driver to stop there first as it was getting dark. One of the door codes they gave us was wrong but luckily an English couple were on their balcony and came to help. The code had been changed this year but the Recep at Turmalina did not (or did not remember) to give it to us. Apart from that the apartment was clean and with fab views of both the sea at the front and the mountains at the back. Also as we left on a Tuesday they let us keep the room for no extra cost until 45 mins before our transfer arrived so we could pack late. The Pools were lovely, much bigger than the 4* Diamonte Beach next door. There were not enough sunbeds at the weekends as the apartments were mainly Spanish owned, but not a prob midweek. Beach superb, but if you want to go everyday pop to Consum the big supermarket 3 mins away and buy sunchairs/umbrellas as it will be cheaper than renting from the beach guy every day. Same if you run out of sunscreen. Local restuarants have special deals and standard of food is great. Bus service to Calpe Town leaves from stop opposite front of apartments 1.15 euro, there is a flea market on Wed and a very big market on Sat. Calpe is mainly a resort for Spanish families which gives it a lovely feel, but you may need your phrasebook. Quite a lot of apartment blocks, but not TOO overdeveloped. All in all, we had a lovely 10 days.

"Great valve for money and comfort"

8.0

only down side is that you have to wash towels in machine provided as they only change the beding&towels every week and you have to pick up the keys at another appartment block as there is no 24hr reception but its not far away, it is very close to the beach and some great resturants and entertainment would recomend the Bella Napoli at the end of the Esmarelda block, also there are 2 good supermarkets only 2-3 minutes walk from appartments, good bus service and also a fun train that runs in the summer round all of Calpe
