Sunbird Capital Hotel

Nice hotel, friendly staff on arrival, pool area is great. The two restaurants were good.

Rooms were a bit dated, bathrooms especially. Wifi was terrible, so difficult to work from there

This was my second stay at the Sunbird -Capital. What I like about this place are the staff, very warm welcoming and helpful. The food is fairly good but could be better. I like the swimming pool area and the recent refurbishments to the bathroom. It is in a great location and one can easily access many places and the blue zone in Lilongwe. The Vincents restaurant (fine dining) is good, I tried out last visit but missed a booking this time round.

The food quality has dropped since my last visit a year ago; the chambo is one thing was looking forward to eating but this time round was disappointed. I asked for packed food on my last day (ride to airport) - steak, fries and Danish Apple pie. What I got was Steak, fries and chocolate cake. I requested the lady to change it since I had paid for it. the food packing needs to be redesigned as the current one easily breaks down. Glad this place is having a refurbishment; it should go beyond the cloak room to the sleeping area. The carpets may need replacement in the future. Mine was dusty on the first night and I did not sleep well; it kept irritating my airways, so cough, sleep, cough. The chairs (creaky) in the room and the desks need replacement/ maintenance. The armchair fabric is dirty and needs to be cleaned.

I had a comfortable stay at Sunbird Capital. Although the rooms are quite old, they are well maintained. The grounds are very well maintained and beautiful, it was a delight to have my evening walks. The hotel is in a safe part of the city so it was easy to have walks and jogs nearby the hotel. I may not have enjoyed the meals for the most part, but the traditional lunch buffet on Thursdays was excellent.

The Breakfast is vast, with many options, and changes daily so it doesn't get boring. The rooms are clean, the staff are friendly, and the reception is efficient and quick. The location is great, with many Taxi Options. The gardens are kept well, and walking through the premises is a pleasure.

The sliding windows are GREAT, But there is no screen, so you can't leave it open at night, as mosquitoes come in! The food at the restaurant is overpriced, to be honest! The Wi-Fi was bad. My TV in the room had a problem, which was never resolved.

The personnel was very helpful and gentle
