"get a kick out of the crew that wear is so many types of jackets. They’re all very skillful."

8.0

Always an awesome time we’ve been back multiple times they seem to be fixing things regularly and making things better each time, including the seating arrangements around the pool. But there’s always those people that think they’re privileged and should be allowed to reserve their seats and not be there all day. They put notes up next to the chairs saying don’t reserve them, but definitely still needs to be enforced. Other than that the staff is always friendly. The food is always good and I’m going again in September and again in January.

"Employee Sergio of El Mercado buffet"

10.0

From January 19th to March 2nd we stayed in room 1912 at Iberostar Waves Paraiso. We went to the El Mercado breakfast buffet and were served by a young man Sergio Raul. He not only was very friendly and helpful but went out of his way to talk to us in English. We enjoyed his company and had a lot of laughs with him. Your company is very fortunate to have such an excellent employee who made our vacation very enjoyable. Thank you Sergio for your service and friendship. "Family getaway"

10.0

Just returned from this wonderful resort. The staff were always extremely helpful. We asked to change rooms around so that we could have all of our family nearby. This meant that we needed to change our room after the first night. I accidentally left an Apple pen behind on the bed. They phoned me in our new room to let me know that housekeeping had found it. The resort public bathrooms were always very clean even at the pool where there is heavy usage! We stayed in a building near the beach and it was a 10 minute walk to the main lobby and most of the restaurants. I appreciated this because the food was so good I needed the exercise. There were plenty of shuttles for the times we didn’t want to walk though. Lots of activities offered through the day. The Iberostar app was very convenient to see what was going on or which restaurants were open. We would definitely return to this resort!

"Fantastic hotel, also suitable for celiacs, vegetarians, or vegans!"

10.0

Exceptional and fantastic hotel: finally, a hotel that lists the ingredients of the dishes and displays them prominently. Whether you have allergies or follow a vegetarian or vegan diet, you can always find something for you, with the ingredients clearly written. If you don't want cow's milk, you'll find almond milk or soy milk. There are also plenty of desserts without eggs or milk. Huge pools. A paradise hotel for animal lovers: Nelson's coatis, many birds, reptiles, and even spider monkeys. From the beach, you can observe pelicans, frigatebirds, birds of prey, seagulls, and river terns. The only problem with the beach in Cancun: an invasion of seaweed. Despite the constant effort to clean the beach, the seaweed often takes over. To find a clean beach, I had to go to Cozumel Island, same hotel (it's a famous hotel chain).

"Great resort, but manage exoectarions"

8.0

Stayed Feb 2026 | Solo Traveller I stayed at this resort as a solo traveller in Feb. 2026. Overall, I thought it was great and would book again in future — but there are a few things guests should know when choosing this resort. The Good The resort is beautiful. The grounds are lush and well-kept, and the pool area is huge and very well maintained. The staff overall are excellent — friendly, helpful, and a joy to engage with. A real highlight is the wildlife at the resort. Coatis, flamingos, peacocks, swans, and monkeys all roam the grounds and really contribute to the feeling that you’re someplace special. The rooms are also good — spacious, clean, with good housekeeping. They may be coming up on a need for a refresh, but the Mexican styling is charming and I had no complaints about my room. The lobby and pool bars are fantastic. Fast, friendly service, and genuinely pleasant staff. Unlimited cappuccinos in the lobby bar is a real plus. The Meh This resort, like other Iberostar properties, is part of a group of resorts at different price points. This one is clearly on the more affordable end of that range, and the difference shows up most in the dining. The food was fine — not bad by any means, but not great either. You get the sense they’re working to a budget so that the more expensive sister resorts can offer a better product. Breakfast is a highlight, and the Italian restaurant was very good. The French restaurant was decent. The rest were fairly forgettable, and the buffet was sometimes not something you’d want to repeat often. To be clear, none of the food was bad. But if food is a major priority for you on vacation, this may not be the resort for you. The other challenge is the fight for pool loungers. The resort posts signs saying loungers cannot be “saved” beyond 45 minutes, but there is zero enforcement of this policy. I often skipped breakfast to go down to the pool early, only to find 90%+ of loungers already “claimed” with towels for the entire day. Because it’s a family resort, groups often treat loungers as a base of operations. If you’re unlucky, you may end up in full sun unless you’re down there very early. The Bad I only had one genuinely bad experience. A staff member calling herself a “concierge” told me that because I was staying more than a week, I qualified for perks like breakfast at one of their nicer sister resorts or a discount at the gift shop. When I later asked about these perks at the concierge desk, the staff looked at me like I was crazy and began interrogating me about who told me this, when, how long I was staying, how many people were in my party, etc. It was uncomfortable. It turned out the person offering these “perks” was actually one of their timeshare/vacation club salespeople — and those perks were contingent on attending a sales presentation. That was never disclosed. At best this was misleading, and at worst simply dishonest. Be aware that offers of perks or upgrades may be tied to timeshare sales. They offered to uphold the promised perks, but that really isn’t the point - don’t misrepresent yourself to guests and don’t then treat them like villains of they follow up on promised perks. Would I Go Back? Yes — I would book this resort again. As a solo traveller, you do seem to be treated a bit worse than groups (slower service in restaurants, less desirable table seating), but the wildlife, bars, and generally excellent staff make up for it. If I were booking again, I’d probably choose one of the adults-only sister resorts and go one tier up on the quality scale. That said, I had a great two-week stay here, and if I ended up back at this exact resort again, I wouldn’t be unhappy.

"Amazing Resort"

10.0

Stayed 9 nights. We arrived at 8:30 am, room was not ready but we were free to use the accommodations. The resort is very big, lots of walking. Our room had a nice garden / pool view. The king size bed was very comfortable. Buffets were excellent with lots of choices. À la carte was good too. We had tried 3 of them - Japanese, Brazilian and Smokehouse. The pools were cold, did not use them but the ocean was beautiful and clean of sargassum. My 7 year old son slept most of his time at starcamp. I highly recommend this resort.
