Nice place in general, good common room with games

The breakfast included is serviceable but nothing special, and two of our days it had no stock (no butter for the bread, etc.)

The location was absolutely perfect. Very safe and great restaurants around. Loved the neighborhood. We were lucky enough for parking and that was super convenient. I liked that it had breakfast available.

The air conditioning struggled to keep our room cool. It was HOT outside so I understand why but it still wasn't great. The bed was squeaky metal. Although breakfast was available, it was missing a protein. Even peanut butter would have been nice for the toast...

The staff is very helpful. The location is good.

The shared bathroom sometimes has a bad smell, even though the staff try to clean it every day. Some guests did not know that the washing machine and dryer in the L floor.

Great location! Lots of food options nearby that are open during early and late hours. Staff was super helpful and kind.

Beds were very hard and bad for my back- but that comes with the price of staying at a hostel

I am just not a huge hostel person over all but it was great for what it was

the location was absolutely fantastic, i was able to walk to great food, and it is close to a variety of public transport options. the staff were friendly and efficient at all times. the free breakfast was typical, and packed with people! the kitchen and common areas were really well organized. I will definitely return during future trips to Chicago.

my bed in a 4 bed dorm did not have a plug nearby, unless you count the plug next to the lower bunk. also, the bed squeaked mightily with every little bitty movement I made.

I stayed a few nights in downtown at HI and a few nights here. This was the better hostel - the location was nicer and the hostel had more atmosphere and better bathrooms and facilities. Staff were better too.

I’m only giving an 8/10 instead of 10/10 as the bunk beds could be a lot better. My bed rocked back and forth whenever I tried to climb up or down, it felt unsafe, but was a nuisance to everyone in the room. I was lucky as I could place items on top of a locker next to me, but some beds didn’t have this. There was some bizarre signage around the property making heavy handed threats that guests would be ‘asked to leave’ if they don’t properly close a door, or use the outdoor area after 10pm. I imagine the property has had issues in the past, but it added some negativity and hostility to the environment.
