We enjoyed our stay at the Lodge Hotel as it gave us a good experience when visiting the Pyramid We also enjoyed the Planetarium at the Hotel and if the light show had have been showing we would have loved to attend it but it does not operate on Mondays

"Pretty terrific"

10.0

We stayed for two nights right after a seven-night retreat in Tulum. Our bungalow had a definite WOW factor; walking into our cool, high-ceiling, gigantic room was a fantastic feeling after a week of minimal comforts. Tile floors, the giant, polished wood vertical blinds on the curved wall, clean, bright bathroom with excellent water pressure, a jet-tub, and a really comfortable bed made staying in this room an absolute joy. It also features a porch with a hammock, a table and two chairs with a view of the semi-private pool (our pool was for the three bungalows in our corner of the property). But the main reason I picked the Lodge at Chichen Itza was for the private entrance to Chichen Itza. We got to the line about fifteen minutes early, and a huge queue grew behind us. Getting in early actually allowed us to see the giant pyramid and the other sites before the vendors and giant busloads upon busloads of tourists crammed in. Having the space virtually to ourselves for two hours was really special and I'm so happy to have had that experience. On the not-so-great side, the food choices are limited & expensive. Breakfast is good but you have two places to choose from for your other meals. There is very little else to do, so you are forced to relax. You could spend $9 and a half hour watching the 360 film about the Mayans, but I could have lived without it.

"Perfect for the ruins"

8.0

This is a beautiful hotel if you stay in the lodges, the main building is noisier and smelly from bbq etc. The grounds are lovely and the 4 pools are very welcome in the heat but the smaller pools do get a lot of dead leaves etc in them. The food is very poor in the lunch buffet but breakfast is good and the a la carte restaurant is a better choice in the evening. The staff try very hard and are doing a great job. The easy access to the ruins means that a cooler and less crowded tour can be taken at 8am.

"Beautiful bungalows in a beautiful setting"

10.0

Beautiful bungalows in a beautiful setting. The grounds were amazing, the proximity to Chichen Itza is as advertised - right through the adjacent gate. Recommend a guided tour (Victor was fabulous) Will definitely stay here again and use it as my home base for future trips to see the ruins.

"Excellent location and nice bungalows"

8.0

The overall setting with extensive manicured grounds right next to Chichen Itza is beautiful and the bungalow rooms were well maintained and had a lot of character. The major benefit is the private entry post to Chichen Itza which allows easy entry and avoids the crowds at the main gate. The "Mayan Observatory" show is worth watching on the evening before going into Chichen Itza.

"Gardens beautiful- must stay in bunglow!"

8.0

Nice hotel right next to ruins! Gardens beautiful, food ok, staff with exception of reception staff great! Hotel in desperate need of updating and maintenance. Lots of huge tour groups passing through. The light show at pyramids was spectacular! Also went to informative planetarium show on the property. Get a guide and visit ruins early! By 9am bus loads of tourists arrive. Only major complaint was I paid for loft bungalow and they didn't want to give me the room I paid for. I insisted and crabby supervisor made us wait 1 hour before finally giving it to us! All else was great! This was a fabulous experience!

"Beautiful park setting"

8.0

Exceptionally well designed to meander through an interesting collection of identified trees. Birdwatching everywhere. The grounds are beautiful and offer a private gate to Chitzen Itza. Staff helpful, and our guide, Juan--excellent!! Restaurant was good in an ordinary way. Bungalows very comfortable, but a bit dark inside. Overall, a resort-like complex with everything available on site--stores, bar, pizza, and planetarium, but still able to maintain a great sense of privacy and a peaceful atmosphere. Greatness is just a few steps next door.

"felt like Maya royalty"

10.0

Loved being right on the edge of the pyramid site, with a private entrace, and in the jungle. The grounds and the pools are beautiful and the bungalow rooms and verandas are spacious and comfortable. The staff at the restaurant were friendly and gracious and the food was good. We enjoyed the planetarium show and relaxing by the pool as much as the ruins. An awesome 2 night stay, we could have easily stayed 3.

"Idyllic tropical retreat"

10.0

Absolute gem of a resort, perfect for an overnight stay before visiting Chichen Itza, only wish we had stayed for a day more. My husband had sustained a sports injury just before we arrived and the staff went out of their way to help, even finding a wheelchair so he could visit Chichen Itza without pain. We stayed in one of the bungalows, idyllically situated in a manicured jungle environment, beautifully equipped and decorated. We loved the evening and post Chichen Itza swim in the pool, absolutely perfect. The only thing we found a little strange about the room was the lack of a telephone to call guest services. We also ate at the restaurant and the buffet and really enjoyed the food. The lunchtime buffet was an absolute bargain and while we have seen other reviews that mention the restaurant meal as relatively expensive for Mexico we felt the price reflected the quality of food and service and were very happy with it. One note of caution and the only reason we gave 4 rather than 5 to comfort, falling asleep to the sounds of the jungle sounds idyllic but actually the jungle, or rather the peacocks we think they were, were rather loud until about 2 in the morning, so bring ear plugs or avoid mating season!
