Homewood Suites by Hilton Cedar Rapids-North

My aunt and I stayed here for just one night, while I was in town for a symposium. I was able to check-in on the Hilton app before arriving and received a digital key. The digital worked fine for the room itself, unfortunately, it doesn't work for any of the external doors. The room was okay, though it had an odd odor to the place (the only way I can describe it, is it smelled like old Play-Doh). The shower could have used some updating - it was the first Hilton I've stayed at in a very long time that didn't use a shower curtain or had a frameless glass shower screen. Rather it had the old metal frame and frosted glass, which just looked dirty. When I check-in on the Hilton app, I was able to choose which room I wanted and I picked a room on the top floor, in the hopes I wouldn't have to hear noise from guests. Unfortunately, this was not the case, as we had to listen to kids running up and down the hallway all night and then listen to their dog barking very early in the morning. The free breakfast was okay - pretty standard hotel fare. All said - the staff at the reception desk were very kind and welcoming. One recommendation - please have some caffeine-free tea and/or decaf coffee available in the evenings, where you have the beverages (coffee, tea, and hot cocoa) set up for guests.

Garbage wasn’t picked up daily even outside of the room

Loved the full kitchen suite. Great for grandparents hosting grandchildren. Couch was worn but room was very clean and kitchen was well maintained and equipped. Will definitely stay here again.

I loved having a suite with a door to the bedroom. The kitchen was great and stocked with essential items. I will stay here again.

Took 2.5 hours after our check in for our room to be ready staff seemed very unbothered by this room was smaller than expected and the pool was so cold we could only stand it for a few minutes my kids even less time
