Hotel Ausonia

Ausonia is a nice hotel, very close to the beach. The rooms might be a bit basic, but I didn’t arrive hear because I needed luxury. Staff are friendly, not perfect in English, but we made each other understood. Walk out of the hotel, five minutes to the left train station, two seconds to the right beach. One can not ask for more!

The room was clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated. I could charge the beach umbrella rental to the hotel, so I didn’t have to take money to the beach. The restaurant directly down at the beach was excellent. I liked that my room had a clothes line out the window for drying items.

Staff on reception and at breakfast were lovely. Always smiling and helpful. Breakfast good. Single rooms were very acceptable with larger than single bed. One minute from beach , which is lovely for swimming. My only disappointment is that I cannot remember all the staff names, or I would have named them and complimented them individually.

So impressed with service at breakfast buffet, had asked if they could accommodate gluten free in breakfast buffet when I booked, didn't get a reply so when I went down to check it out I was happy with the rice cakes, cheese, and assortment of jam that was part of the regular buffet. Then they brought out 4 unopened packages of gluten free goodies including two kinds of cookies, and two kinds of cakes. So nice!

This was the third time we stayed at Ausonia. It is a beautiful hotel less than one minute walk from the private beach. There is a small cafe located on the beach belonging to the hotel which serves delicious food, snacks, and coffee. The beach is clean and the sand extremely fine and soft. The hotel rooms are nicely decorated, clean and have a nice and authentic Mediterranean touch. Dinner at the hotel restaurant is exquisite and composed of three courses. Choices can on the courses are made upon arrival or during dinner the night before. Staff is always extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. This place is a family owned and run hotel and has a very homely feel to it (the family owned dachshund Gio is very playful!). It's a 3 star hotel and definitely has an extremely good value for the price. Definitely going there again, as our expectations were much exceeded.

We spend a great week in september 2014. The location is perfect, very close to the beach. The staff is very helpful and kind, perfect room & restaurant service. The restaurant specialize in seafood and the dishes are brilliant. Only minus is lack of parking space, you need to leave the car on the street. There was no problem with place but it was end of the season.

My husband & I stayed here for two mights half board at the end of July. We found all staff very friendly & efficient especially the lady in the restaurant each evening. Our room was all & overlooked the courtyard at the back of the hotel. We didn't use the nearby beach and the hotel garden had no decent chairs that we could have used to sit & enjoy the garden.But our main dislike was all the cats (we counted 4) who sat on the dining chairs in the outside dining room and we also found them sitting on the breakfast table one morning....we do not think that cats should be allowed roam like this in any hotel and certainly not on tables & chairs to be used by the guests.
