The Horseshoe Inn

I booked the luxury room and have no idea why they call it luxury. The room was overcrowded with 6 wooden chairs which were all dirty and dusty. The photos than attracted me are if soft bucket chairs, but was fair from it. The chairs were used pub chairs with cigarette burns on them. There was no room to set up a laptop and had to move the mirror off one in the chest of drawers. The cleanliness was not good, the pelmet was extremely dust and had rubbish behind the bed and an empty vodka bottle under the bed. The noise from the cellar cooling system kept me awake most of the night. The TV was on a glass stand which was lower than the bed and couldn't see the actual TV. I like to support independent hotels as I normally use hotels 3-5 times per week, but after this experience I will no longer do that and will stay with the chains as they would have been a lot cheaper. Breakfast - I attended the dining area and was surprised to find the lady cleaning the toilets came directly from the gents to take m order. This put me if eating it and made an excuse to make a sharp exit.

Comfortable, very friendly and efficient staff. Lovely food. Would recommend to anyone , and will certainly go back to 😀

Pleasantly surprised after reading some reviews. Public areas could do with updating, bedroom & bathroom serviceable. Staff very polite and amenable. All in all good for price paid, would stop again.

This Hotel appears in need of a serious makeover. The bedroom was very small and the bathroom even smaller. The cold water in the handbasin hardly running. The fan in the bathroom not working, even after a request to have it fixed. A good location but not good enough for the money paid.

This venue has a charm about it, with regard to its build and decor; creaky floor boards and all. Bed rooms need redecorating, peeling wall paper, aluminium window frames. But the food was more than I expected; very good value for money. Staff welcoming and pleasant, but the breakfast "help yourself" area was a bit chaotic with more than two people vying for space!

Room rather small for two people. Bathroom even smaller. Water pressure very poor. Fan in bathroom didn't work. Request to fix it ignored even though we were booked in for four nights. Not a great choice of cereal, and fresh fruit for breakfast not available only some very tiny apples. Would not stay here again, not value for the mony we paid.

We refused to stay, we contacted Hotels.com and explained Why! We cancelled in Hotel as well as cancelling with Hotels.com

This is a perfect little hotel. It's not the most modern but what it lacks in contemporary facilities it makes up for in heart and staff service. We stayed here for a night while visiting Battle Abbey. The food was great, both evening meal and breakfast. The room was large, a welcome change from the more modern hotels where space is often limited. If you can look beyond the slightly tired decor this is a super place to stay for a short break to this part of the country.

Friendly and helpful staff. Amazing breakfast. Would have liked a hairdryer in the room. Other than that all good
