The Horseshoe Inn

Lovely looking hotel and amazing decor inside in the reception, bar and restaurant area! Especially after coming back from the medieval festival! Room was nice for family although bathroom slightly cramped and too much uneeded furniture.

The room was very clean but the mattress needs replacing as it is sagging in the middle. The breakfast plate was cold and the contents were cold - asked if the next one could be hot and next morning it was just warm. Was asked if we were eating in the restaurant in the evening, the answer was NO- (if it was anything like the breakfast!) There was an excellent Indian Restaurant in Herstmonceux village called Eastern Promise which I thoroughly recommend a visit to.

budget hotel I was told airconditioning was available when booking but on arrival the room had no air conditioning. family room should a bit of privacy for the parents like available in lego land and alton towers hotels. The room had cobwebs and spiders. I told the staff but nothing was done. I had to get insecticide and clean myself.

On entering, lovely looking building.......old, worn carpet in main areas, old, worn bedroom that is in desperate need of of decorating, tiny television, very poor service by staff, breakfast waitress rude, breakfast cold, disappointing stay.

room was good. arrived 8.50. finally got receptionist at 9.05. asked about dinning closed at 9.00. kitchen was closed. Did not matter I had been waiting 15 minutes

Had a smashing stay. Monday night rock n roll dance was a brilliant surprise. Service was excellent. Close to lots of things to do. Thankful for warm welcome and pleasant stay.

Enjoyed the evening Rock and Roll Monday Night (Every week) taff were very helpful other than one foreign breakfast waitress who was rude and unhelpful offering an inedible breakfast which on our complaint said she cooked it herself after we suggested that it was cooked many hours earlier and micro wave re heated. The bacon was like a piece of cardboard and the beans had a backed over skin. Worse still the coffee pot was stone cold which she insisted was not even when I held in my hand. This was on our first morning breakfast. Day 2 was different with a very friendly helpful waitress who showed great concern about our complaint from th previous day. We would not hesitate to visit again.
