So toilets were not very clean, equipment in washroom old and stinky, soap and shampoo were brought on second day.

Behavior of reception staff, the phone in rooms was not working, asked to change my room but very rudely rejected.

I rarely leave bad reviews, and it is with a heavy heart that I write this one. Mutrah Hotel used to be a cherished childhood memory. I stayed here many times with my parents from the 1980s until the early 2000s. Sadly, it is almost unrecognisable today. The renovated lobby and the proudly displayed high booking ratings are misleading. The renovation stops there. The hotel has effectively become a nightclub hotel. Loud music plays every night, including weekdays, until around 3 am. We were the only foreigners and needless to say, the only guests with children. Parking is taken over by the nightclub, and we repeatedly encountered drunk people and very scantily dressed women outside. The rooms are extremely outdated and poorly maintained. Bathrooms have mould, water leaking onto the floor, dirty sinks and loose tiles. Curtains were falling off the rails, towels were stained and frayed (only two for four people), and only two small bottles of water were provided for a family. The air-conditioning units are very old and clearly not cleaned. Breakfast was almost non-existent: vacuum-packed croissants, toast, butter, processed cheese, no jam, and barely any fruit. After the first night, we complained about the lack of hot water and the nightclub noise. We were moved to another room in a separate building, which required walking through the hotel’s ground floor, past the kitchens, cleaning equipment and even a liquor store (!). Very strange for a hotel. Wi-Fi works if you are lucky. Separate passwords are given for each device, they expire after 24 hours, and we had to go back to reception several times just to get one connection working. Our room was never cleaned despite our request. The most disappointing part was the attitude at reception. Oman is a country dear to my heart and known for its hospitality, but the reception staff here showed little interest in helping. Every issue was met with “five minutes,” and nothing ever followed. The only reason I give 0.

We had an amazing stay here! The location is perfect – very close to Mutrah Souq, the Corniche, the fish market (just 10 minutes by car), historic forts, and Al Alam Palace. The staff at the front desk were welcoming, kind, and helpful from the moment we arrived. Special thanks to Mr. Hood, Mr. Sadiq, and the lady receptionist at the counter for their wonderful manners and care. They even reluctantly accepted payment for my little daughter’s drinks at the café (she’s just 3!) only after my insistence – such thoughtful and generous service! ❤️ The place is spotless, beautifully organized, and every detail shows real care. The value for money is excellent – we truly felt it was worth every penny. We will definitely be coming back!

More noise from the Bar Lounge available downstairs. Rock music is reaching upto 2nd floor. I stayed in 207. Non-stop music till mid night. how the guest can sleep peacefully. When we approached Desk, they said no other way.
