The surroundings were great. The host was very nice.

Would have been nice to have bar service around the pool.

The houses and surrounding gardens were pretty. Our cottage had its own private garden, which had several feeding stations for birds so we could sit and watch them. There is a swimming pool and a jacuzzi however we did not use these. The breakfast consisted of a variety of cereals, different breads meats and cheeses as well as a good choice of hot freshly cooked meals and hot and cold drinks. Our visit coincided with the Swellendam Show. A member of staff told us about this and encouraged us to go. We took her advice and went along and had a lovely afternoon.

We stayed in Lavender Cottage, which although was a decent sized accommodation, it had lavender painted walls, not one of my favourite colours. I was so looking forward to see the zebras as mentioned in the promotional info on booking.com site. This turned out to be 1 zebra in a large paddock with 6 springbok and a dozen Guinea fowl, I was disappointed. We had an issue with the drainage system, when using the shower the water didn’t drain away. At the same time the toilet made loud gurgling noises and when flushed almost overflowed before slowly subsiding. It was evident that there was a problem with the system as dirty water was coming back into the shower. When reporting the problem, we discovered that we were not the only guests affected. Credit to the staff who called a local plumber who sorted the problem later that day. There was only one toaster for guests to make make their own toast. The toaster could only do 2 slices at a time. As you can imagine there was a queue for the toaster! It was a shame that there was only one member of staff taking the orders for breakfast, this meant that coffees and cooked breakfasts took longer than necessary to arrive.

Beautifully unassuming building from the main road hiding a host of treasures for those visiting. The gorgeous poolside rooms, peaceful extensive gardens, paddock with Zebra and Wildebeest. Wonderful breakfast and attentive host and staff

Locatie, zwembad, tuin/landgoed, zebra en bokkies, ontbijt, ontvangst, parkeren, in- en uitchecken, de kamer met benodigdheden, het was allemaal fantastisch!

De kamer was een beetje aan de kleine kant, maar voor een nachtje op doorreis meer dan voldoende.

Neatly cured to the detail and great value for money. Incredible Cape Dutch ensemble with a beautiful pool at its center. World class breakfast and amazing charm of a family run compound. And there's zebras!!

It is a bit remote from Swellendam city center but still walkable.

Mooie kamers, fijn terrein, grote bedden, hartelijk ontvangst en rondleiding door de tuin, goede faciliteiten rondom zwembad, mooi ontbijt in de tuin met vriendelijk personeel en ruime keuze tussen zoet en hartig. Badkamer prachtig en handdoekwarmer prettig. Kleinschaligheid en knusheid is fijn, er zijn zes huisjes. Swellendam leuk klein stadje om doorheen te lopen. Fijne minibar! Tip; ga eten bij Christelles Bistro (reserveer)

Room was tired, needed updating, peculiarities eg hard to find light switches. Breakfast not the best, eg bread was average supermarket sliced,.just pretty basic.
